Who counters Evelynn — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Evelynn on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

WarwickEvelynn vs Warwick Unfavorable

Why Warwick counters Evelynn: His Blood Hunt (W) sniffs you out even while invisible when you are wounded, and his sustain holds against your Charm burst.

How to play Evelynn into Warwick: Never roam the map at low health: recall first. Cast Charm from outside his scent range and only hunt him isolated, after your 5.

→ Warwick
ViEvelynn vs Vi Unfavorable

Why Vi counters Evelynn: Her R pulls you out of invisibility point-and-click: the most direct anti-Evelynn in the game.

How to play Evelynn into Vi: After 5 play at the edges of fights: charm whoever peels off the group, never the group itself. While Vi lives, always keep your R as an exit.

→ Vi
Lee SinEvelynn vs Lee Sin Unfavorable

Why Lee Sin counters Evelynn: He invades you at the levels where you are the weakest thing on the map: your level 5 arrives only if he lets you reach it.

How to play Evelynn into Lee Sin: Take unpredictable farm routes and swap camps with your mid laner's help. After 5 punish his overextensions: Charm from the angles he stopped warding.

→ Lee Sin
FiddlesticksEvelynn vs Fiddlesticks Skill matchup

Why Fiddlesticks counters Evelynn: Two invisible horrors: his effigies unmask your angles though, and his AoE fear burst is bigger than yours.

How to play Evelynn into Fiddlesticks: Destroy every effigy you find: they reveal you. Cast Charm BEFORE he channels R: your CC wins if it starts first.

→ Fiddlesticks
KindredEvelynn vs Kindred Skill matchup

Why Kindred counters Evelynn: Her R denies your Charm+R execute, but your stealth stops her from stacking marks on you.

How to play Evelynn into Kindred: Execute targets OUTSIDE her R zone, or wait it out. Her marks tell you where she will be in advance: be waiting there with Charm ready.

→ Kindred

Who to play with Evelynn — best team synergies

The champions Evelynn works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Evelynn

Evelynn + Singed Best pairing

Mega Adhesive (W) grounds and slows, Fling (E) throws a runner back the way he came: the target cannot leave the Whiplash (E) window. And his proxy farming forces an enemy to answer him alone in a side lane, which is the prey you hunt.

Evelynn + Camille Strong

The Hextech Ultimatum (R) traps the enemy carry in a zone they cannot leave and shoves away anyone who would peel for them: it is the isolated target Demon Shade (P) spends the game hunting, handed to you standing still.

Evelynn + Shen Strong

Your page says a whiffed all-in usually just ends in your own death: Stand United (R) shields you and teleports him onto you from across the map. And the Shadow Dash (E) taunt holds a target still for the 2.5 seconds Allure (W) needs.

Evelynn + Jax Strong

Before level 5 you do not exist, so you need a lane that never calls for you: Jax wins his own duels and pressures a side lane alone. Counter Strike (E) then stuns everyone around him and hands you the moment to pop Allure (W).

Evelynn + Tryndamere Situational

Undying Rage (R) makes him unkillable for five seconds, so the enemy team has to answer him by sending someone alone into a side lane: that lone answer is your target. He is still a sub-50% pick on the Chinese server, though.

Best Mid partners for Evelynn

Evelynn + Twisted Fate Best pairing

Destiny (R) reveals every enemy on the map, and your whole game is finding someone away from vision: he points straight at them. The Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) stuns for 1.25 seconds, which is the time Allure (W) needs to mature.

Evelynn + Galio Strong

Outside the brief untargetable window of Last Caress (R) you have no defensive tool at all, and your page says so: Hero's Entrance (R) is the one thing that can reach you from across the map with a shield and a knock-up when a dive goes wrong.

Evelynn + Brand Strong

Allure (W) shreds 20% magic resist off the target right before the burst lands, so every point of Brand's magic damage on that champion counts for more. And Sear (Q) stuns for 1.75 seconds on anyone already carrying a Blaze (P) stack.

Evelynn + Swain Strong

Vision of Empire (W) deals 50% more damage to anything already locked down, and a matured Allure (W) hands him exactly that second of lockdown. The 20% magic resist you strip off the target then pays him a second time.

Evelynn + Zoe Situational

Worth it when she actually lands it, because her whole kit is skillshots: Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E) puts the target to sleep and hands you the seconds you need to close in and mature Allure (W) on someone who cannot walk away.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Evelynn

Evelynn + Ashe Best pairing

Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) is a steered stun from across the map: it pins a target long enough for Allure (W) to mature and for you to arrive out of Demon Shade (P). Hawkshot (E) meanwhile finds you the isolated prey before you move.

Evelynn + Jhin Strong

Deadly Flourish (W) turns into a real root on anyone an ally has just damaged, and one Hate Spike (Q) from the shadows is enough. Curtain Call (R) then finishes from range whoever survived after Last Caress (R) carried you out.

Evelynn + Ezreal Strong

He is the lane that never calls for you before level 5, the phase where you do not exist: Arcane Shift (E) keeps him alive on his own. And Trueshot Barrage (R) finishes from range whatever you left low when Last Caress (R) pulled you out.

Evelynn + Varus Situational

Blighted Quiver (W) layers magic damage onto every hit, so the 20% magic resist Allure (W) strips pays him too, and Chain of Corruption (R) roots the group. It only really works against a team that stands close together, though.

Best Support partners for Evelynn

Evelynn + Zilean Best pairing

Your page says you do not exist before level 5, and Time In A Bottle (P) is the only ability in the game that hands a jungler a stockpile of free experience: you get there sooner. Chronoshift (R) then covers the whiffed all-in that kills you.

Evelynn + Morgana Best pairing

Dark Binding (Q) roots for two full seconds, so Allure (W) matures on someone who cannot walk away, which is the piece you usually lack. And Black Shield (E) is the only defensive tool you will ever get, because your kit has none.

Evelynn + Pyke Strong

You are two champions who vanish from the map: between Ghostwater Dive (W) and Demon Shade (P) the enemy never knows where either of you is. Bone Skewer (Q) drags the prey out of position and Death From Below (R) executes whoever Whiplash (E) left low.

Evelynn + Senna Strong

Curse of the Black Mist (E) camouflages the whole team, not just you: your allies reach the pick as unseen as you do. And Last Embrace (W) roots the very target you have already marked with Allure (W) from the shadows.

Evelynn + Leona Strong

Zenith Blade (E) into Shield of Daybreak (Q) is one of the longest single-target lockdowns in the game: Allure (W) gets all the time it needs to mature, and her page says the engage is wasted if nobody punishes the window.

Evelynn + Blitzcrank Situational

Rocket Grab (Q) does not set up the pick, it creates one, tearing a target out of the group and handing them to you alone while Power Fist (E) knocks them up and Allure (W) matures. One enemy spell shield, though, and nothing is left.

How to play Evelynn — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Evelynn is a magic-damage Assassin in Wild Rift, almost always played in the jungle, built entirely around her Demon Shade passive: after 4 seconds out of combat she slips into hiding, and from level 5 that hiding gains a camouflage layer that lets her stalk the map almost unseen. Her whole game plan is picking one target apart - land Allure (W), close the gap with an empowered Whiplash (E), and a matured combo can delete a priority target in seconds before Last Caress (R) carries her back out. She trades away safe poke and wave clear for some of the best single-target burst and disengage of any assassin in the game.

Strengths

  • Demon Shade turns her invisible 4 seconds after leaving combat, and from level 5 it adds a camouflage layer on top, letting her roam and gank lanes almost undetected.
  • Allure (W) is a delayed death sentence: holding the curse for 2.5 seconds or more before popping it with an autoattack or ability turns a 65% slow into a full 1-second Charm, plus a 20% magic resist shred on champions, right before her burst lands.
  • Whiplash (E) scales off the target's max health (55 plus 2%, or 80 plus 4% when empowered from Demon Shade), so she keeps threatening tanks and juggernauts, not just squishies, all game long.
  • Regenerates 17 health per second while below 320 health in Demon Shade, and Last Caress (R) grants brief untargetability plus a long backward dash, giving her real ways to heal up between fights or bail out of a bad one.

Weaknesses

  • Almost no wave clear - Hate Spike (Q) only deals 40% damage to minions, so she can't be played as a laner or asked to push a wave.
  • Very level- and item-light early: before she reaches her level 5 spike and first burst item, Hate Spike's 40 magic damage per hit barely pokes anyone.
  • Everything depends on staying hidden and landing Allure - true sight, control wards, or a grouped-up, warded enemy team strip away most of her threat before she gets close.
  • No shield or hard defensive tool outside Last Caress's brief untargetable window, so a whiffed all-in usually just ends in her own death.

Combos

  • Allure (W) from Demon Shade, hold 2.5+ seconds, empowered Whiplash (E) pulls you in and pops the Charm, Hate Spike (Q), autoattacks, Last Caress (R) - the full pick-and-delete combo; the hold before popping the mark is what turns the slow into a hard Charm and a magic resist shred instead of nothing.
  • Allure (W) into an immediate autoattack or Hate Spike (Q) - gives up the Charm for an instant 65% slow when you can't afford to wait 2.5 seconds, useful for peeling off an ally or catching a runner.
  • Last Caress (R) alone on an already-low target - below 35% health it deals 230% damage, often lethal by itself, and the backward displacement carries you straight out of danger afterward.
  • In the jungle: Allure (W) for its bonus damage to monsters, into Whiplash (E) and Hate Spike (Q), for fast camp clears and won duels between ganks.

Skill order: E > W > Q - max Whiplash (E) first for its scaling damage, take an early point in Allure (W) for the mark, and level Last Caress (R) at 5/9/13.

Early game

Clear camps efficiently and race for level 5, since that's when Demon Shade's camouflage and Last Caress (R) come online and your ganks actually start landing. Before that spike, only commit to lanes that are already pushed or missing vision - a spotted, itemless Evelynn loses most fights outright. Pre-cast Allure (W) on your target from inside Demon Shade, since it doesn't cancel your stealth: reposition to a safe angle and hold the curse until it's matured, or the window looks clean, before committing with Whiplash (E).

Mid & late game — teamfighting

She isn't a frontline fighter - sit at the edge of vision in Demon Shade until the fight breaks out or a priority target gets isolated, then dive them with the full combo instead of trading with whoever is nearest. Treat Last Caress (R) as a finisher on a target already under 35% health rather than an opener; its brief untargetability doubles as a way to dodge a stray skillshot or crowd control on the way in. Once the kill is secured, ride the ultimate's backward displacement out immediately, since she rarely has the tools to survive a second target turning onto her.

Pro tips

  • Cast Allure (W) before you commit, not as your opener - it doesn't break Demon Shade, so you can mark a target, keep repositioning invisibly, and only reveal yourself the instant Whiplash (E) pulls you in.
  • Track your own out-of-combat timer mid-skirmish: stepping out of vision for just a moment re-enters Demon Shade and starts healing you back up, often a better option than recalling.
  • Whiplash (E) applies on-hit effects, so a Lich Bane proc rides along with it for extra burst - that's why it's usually the first item completed and why E belongs early in your combo, not last.
