Who counters Renekton — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Renekton on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

JaxRenekton vs Jax Unfavorable

Why Jax counters Renekton: You win 5 levels and lose the rest: his Counter Strike cancels your fury trades exactly as your lead expires.

How to play Renekton into Jax: Turn the early game into plates and successful ganks, not just kills. Once he has 2 items, play with your team: the duel is closed.

→ Jax
VayneRenekton vs Vayne Unfavorable

Why Vayne counters Renekton: She kites outside fury range and Condemn punishes every blind dash: the crocodile chasing the dragonfly.

How to play Renekton into Vayne: Double dash ONLY with the stun guaranteed. Freeze the wave: force her to walk toward you. Close before her 3 items or concede the side lane.

→ Vayne
KayleRenekton vs Kayle Skill matchup

Why Kayle counters Renekton: Your favorite prey until 9, your problem afterwards: a timer with wings.

How to play Renekton into Kayle: Repeated dives through the first 5 levels: every death delays her spike by 2 minutes. Your R holds tower shots: use it to dive.

→ Kayle
FioraRenekton vs Fiora Skill matchup

Why Fiora counters Renekton: Her Riposte hunts your W: if she catches it you are the one stunned, if she misses it the trade is yours by right.

How to play Renekton into Fiora: Delay the W by half a second to break her Riposte timing. Spend fury on the sustain Q when she plays for attrition.

→ Fiora
GwenRenekton vs Gwen Skill matchup

Why Gwen counters Renekton: The Mist cancels your fury all-in once per fight: your bullying has a guardian.

How to play Renekton into Gwen: Short trades to make her waste the Mist, THEN the real all-in. Win before 5 as always: she blooms late.

→ Gwen

Who to play with Renekton — best team synergies

The champions Renekton works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Jungle partners for Renekton

Renekton + Xin Zhao Best pairing

You need kills before level 6 and by then he is already complete: Audacious Charge (E) slows, the third hit of Three Talon Strike (Q) knocks up, and you stack Ruthless Predator (W) on top. Crescent Guard (R) shoves away anyone coming to help.

Renekton + Warwick Best pairing

Every trade you win leaves the enemy laner under half health, and Blood Hunt (W) flags them from across the map with bonus move speed. Then Infinite Duress (R) pins them longer than your Ruthless Predator (W) does: time enough to dump a full Fury bar.

Renekton + Jarvan IV Strong

Your card says anyone who keeps you at arm's length starves your Fury, and inside Cataclysm (R) nobody keeps you anywhere: it is you and one target in a ring of terrain. Dragon Strike (Q) through the Demacian Standard (E) flag knocks up before you even dash.

Renekton + Pantheon Strong

Two stuns back to back at level 3 is a won lane: Shield Vault (W) pins the target, you close with Slice and Dice (E) and add Ruthless Predator (W) on top. Later, Grand Starfall (R) puts him back in your side lane without walking across the map.

Renekton + Rammus Strong

A target taunted by Frenzying Taunt (E) cannot do the one thing that switches you off, which is walk away: it stands there filling your Fury bar instead. Powerball (Q) also brings the fight to you rather than making you chase it with your second dash.

Best Mid partners for Renekton

Renekton + Galio Best pairing

You commit to the dive and end up alone in the middle of them: Hero's Entrance (R) lands on you from any lane, knocks up whoever surrounded you and shields you. Then Shield of Durand (W) taunts the group, and a taunted enemy stops kiting you.

Renekton + Twisted Fate Best pairing

Your window lasts ten minutes, and he is the one mid laner who can show up in the top lane without walking there: Destiny (R) teleports him into your 1v1 and the gold card from Pick a Card (W) stuns the target while you line up Slice and Dice (E).

Renekton + Nasus Strong

Nasus is a mid laner in China, and Wither (W) answers your stated problem exactly: whoever keeps you at range takes your Fury away before they take your damage. He is also the reason the team still works after minute twenty, when you stop mattering.

Renekton + Ahri Strong

Charm (E) walks the target toward her, slowed and facing the wrong way: you get time to close with Slice and Dice (E) and land the stun without burning the second dash on a chase, which your card tells you to keep as an exit.

Renekton + Kayle Situational

Situational, and only once her ultimate is up: Divine Judgment (R) makes you invulnerable for the length of a dive, so a Dominus (R) all-in goes through three defenders. Before that she gives you nothing, and in China she sits under 50%.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Renekton

Renekton + Ashe Best pairing

Frost Shot (P) slows with every single arrow: against a team that kites you it is the one thing keeping targets inside your very short range. And Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) stuns from range, so Slice and Dice (E) opens on a target already frozen in place.

Renekton + Kalista Best pairing

You are melee with no long-range engage at all: Fate's Call (R), when you are her Oathsworn, pulls you in and fires you into the enemy team, knocking up whoever you clip on landing. You arrive with the target already airborne and Ruthless Predator (W) still up.

Renekton + Jhin Strong

A target that has just eaten a tick of Cull the Meek (Q) is already rootable: Deadly Flourish (W) pins it from range and you dash onto it while it stands still. Whoever survives the pick and tries to run gets taken by Curtain Call (R).

Renekton + Ezreal Strong

Your own card says it plainly: you protect nobody. Ezreal shakes divers off by himself with Arcane Shift (E) and fights from outside the scrum, so he never asks for the peel you don't have while you are off hunting your pick.

Renekton + Draven Situational

Situational and honest: you share one clock and have to close the game early or you fall off together. Stand Aside (E) knocks aside and slows anyone slipping out of your stun, but if the game drags neither of you has anything left.

Best Support partners for Renekton

Renekton + Thresh Best pairing

Your teamfight value is picks, and Death Sentence (Q) hands you one already peeled off from their team: you arrive with Slice and Dice (E) on a target that cannot walk back. Flay (E) shoves them back in if they try to slide away.

Renekton + Nami Strong

Tidecaller's Blessing (E) lights up your next hits with extra damage and a slow, and your combo is all quick hits: you burn the whole buff in one rotation and the target can no longer walk out of your range. Aqua Prison (Q) opens the trade.

Renekton + Leona Strong

Zenith Blade (E) drags her onto the target and holds it, Solar Flare (R) stuns it again: that is more seconds than you need to dump the entire combo with Fury above 50, which is the only time you actually hurt.

Renekton + Rakan Strong

You peel for nobody and with him you don't have to: Rakan opens with Grand Entrance (W), knocks them up and takes the attention while you come in from the side with Slice and Dice (E). Battle Dance (E) then pulls him back out with nobody covering him.

Renekton + Pyke Situational

Worth it in a game that is already a running brawl: Bone Skewer (Q) drags a target out of position and Death From Below (R) executes whoever you leave low. After minute twenty he is as fragile as you are, so either you close early or you don't close.

How to play Renekton — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Renekton, Wild Rift's Butcher of the Sands, is a snowballing top-lane Fighter whose entire kit runs on Fury — every basic attack and ability charges the bar, and crossing 50 Fury empowers Cull the Meek, Ruthless Predator and Slice and Dice into stronger versions. His damage is almost entirely physical, and he's built to bully the laning phase, chaining a dash into a hard stun to force all-ins that snowball into map pressure before scaling opponents take over. One of the more beginner-friendly Fighters to pick up, he rewards aggression and punishes passive laning far more than patient, late-game play.

Strengths

  • Dominant early-game bully: autos and Cull the Meek build Fury fast, letting you force winning all-ins as early as level 2-3 and snowball a lane lead into map pressure.
  • Strong self-sustain — Cull the Meek's healing jumps sharply once Fury crosses 50, letting you win extended trades and clear waves without recalling.
  • Reliable engage and lockdown: Ruthless Predator's stun plus Slice and Dice's dash let you pick fights on your terms and follow up on any opening.
  • Dominus is a genuine power spike on demand — instant Fury and a large temporary HP buffer make your level 5+ all-ins very hard to punish.

Weaknesses

  • Falls off hard into the late game — scaling hyper-carries and ranged threats out-damage and out-range you once laning phase ends.
  • Fury generation depends on landing hits, so kiting, disengage tools and pure poke starve your combo of the resource it needs to empower.
  • Dash-heavy kit is vulnerable to parries and counters — abilities like Jax's Counter Strike or Fiora's Riposte can flip your all-in in an instant.
  • Melee with no long-range escape and almost no peel for teammates, so your teamfight value is limited to picks rather than protecting your own carries.

Combos

  • E → W → Q — dash in with Slice and Dice to close the gap and build Fury, stun with Ruthless Predator, then unload Cull the Meek for AoE damage and healing.
  • W → Auto-Attack → Q — stun first, weave the empowered second auto-attack into the stun window, then follow with Cull the Meek to heal off the trade.
  • R → E → W → Q — pop Dominus for the instant Fury and HP burst, dash in, stun, then Cull the Meek: the standard level 5+ all-in.
  • E (in) → E (out) — Slice and Dice can be recast within 4 seconds of hitting an enemy, so use the second dash purely to disengage if a trade turns sour instead of chasing deeper.

Skill order: Q > W > E

Early game

Renekton's early game is about forcing trades before opponents hit their power spikes. Weave autos and Cull the Meek together to build Fury quickly, then look to all-in the moment you cross 50 Fury and your abilities empower — a Slice and Dice dash into a Ruthless Predator stun usually wins the exchange outright. Rush Blade of the Ruined King for the extra sustain and scaling damage, shove waves to threaten dives from your jungler, and try to bank a kill or a plate lead while the laning phase is still yours — your trades are at their scariest in the early levels, and once the enemy laner gets their first completed items your all-ins stop being free.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

By the mid game Renekton is less of a scaling threat and more of a pick-and-dive tool: activate Dominus before committing to soak the first burst of damage, refill your Fury bar instantly, and chip the enemy team with the ultimate's damage aura. Use Slice and Dice to jump onto an isolated carry and Ruthless Predator to lock them down long enough for your team to finish the kill, then use the recast dash to reset instead of chasing too deep. Build into Hullbreaker for split-push pressure and pick up Mortal Reminder or Experimental Hexplate depending on whether the enemy needs anti-heal or you need extra mobility, and remember to flank rather than front-line — your kit offers almost no peel, so your value comes from picks, not soaking damage for the team.

Pro tips

  • Weave basic attacks between spells whenever you can — Fury from autos adds up fast, and banking 50+ before you commit means Q, W and E all hit their empowered values in the fight that matters.
  • Blade of the Ruined King is close to a mandatory first item on Renekton: the lifesteal and percent-health damage keep you relevant against tanks and squishies alike.
  • Don't burn both Slice and Dice charges chasing a kill — the recast window is only 4 seconds after a hit, so treat the second dash as an escape option, not just a follow-up gap-closer.
