Who counters Kassadin — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Kassadin on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

TalonKassadin vs Talon Hard counter

Why Talon counters Kassadin: Assassin physical damage at your worst levels: your anti-magic passive is useless and before 5 you are a walking gold bag.

How to play Kassadin into Talon: Concede everything except experience: farm under tower and keep the shield for his W burst. Every minute you survive is a nail in his late-game coffin.

→ Talon
ZedKassadin vs Zed Hard counter

Why Zed counters Kassadin: Like Talon but worse: his R finds you even under tower and your shield does not absorb physical damage.

How to play Kassadin into Zed: Buy Zhonya's Hourglass early and keep your health above his combo threshold at all times. After 9 the executioner is you: you just have to get there alive.

→ Zed
PantheonKassadin vs Pantheon Unfavorable

Why Pantheon counters Kassadin: Point-and-click stun and early physical burst your kit completely ignores: the lane is his until your third item.

How to play Kassadin into Pantheon: Respect every W of his before 5. When he spends his R to roam, you get your free-farm window: ping your team and use it.

→ Pantheon
VexKassadin vs Vex Unfavorable

Why Vex counters Kassadin: Her fear triggers on your jump: your only mobility feeds her control, and her poke scales at your own pace.

How to play Kassadin into Vex: Jump FIRST to a neutral spot to discharge her passive, then go in. After 9 your rotation speed leaves her on foot.

→ Vex
AhriKassadin vs Ahri Skill matchup

Why Ahri counters Kassadin: Her Charm is the only thing keeping you from scaling in peace, but your passive absorbs half her plan.

How to play Kassadin into Ahri: Stay behind minions until your first item. Jump on every missed Charm: that is your trade window.

→ Ahri

Who to play with Kassadin — best team synergies

The champions Kassadin works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Kassadin

Kassadin + Shen Best pairing

You die after you jump: Riftwalk (R) spent, mana gone and Void Stone (P) only stopping magic damage. Stand United (R) shields you from across the map exactly there, and Shadow Dash (E) taunts whoever is finishing you off.

Kassadin + Ornn Best pairing

Your whole game is reaching Rod of Ages and Seraph's Embrace: from level 7 Living Forge (P) lets a nearby ally shop from anywhere on the map, so you never lose a recall. And Searing Charge (E) into terrain hands you an airborne target.

Kassadin + Malphite Strong

Your engage is telegraphed, so it should not be yours: he opens with Unstoppable Force (R) and you blink in with Riftwalk (R) on people already floored. His page says that without someone converting it he is a tank with no impact.

Kassadin + K'Sante Strong

All Out (R) roots an enemy carry and knocks them away from their team: the isolated target Riftwalk (R) and Null Sphere (Q) exist for. Footwork (E) then dashes to you and shares his shield the moment you land among them.

Kassadin + Singed Strong

Before level 5 you lose lane mostly to ganks: he proxies and drags the enemy jungler and laner after him while you bank experience. Later, Mega Adhesive (W) into Fling (E) hands you a target too stuck to dodge your jump.

Kassadin + Poppy Situational

Against dive-heavy comps, since once your combo is spent you have no crowd control at all: Steadfast Presence (W) turns the dash of whoever jumps you into a root and Heroic Charge (E) into terrain is 1.7 seconds. She is C tier at 48.3%: that is the reason.

Best Jungle partners for Kassadin

Kassadin + Amumu Best pairing

Every point of your damage is magic, so one magic resist item shuts you off: Cursed Touch (P) makes every magic hit they take carry true damage with it. And Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) is 1.5 seconds where your jump cannot be dodged.

Kassadin + Xin Zhao Best pairing

After Riftwalk (R) you have no crowd control and no defence: Crescent Guard (R) knocks back everyone except his marked target and blocks ranged damage, peeling off the four about to punish you. His page calls it a safety net, not just an engage.

Kassadin + Warwick Strong

Your jump is easy to see coming, Infinite Duress (R)'s one-second suppress is not: the target is already pinned when you land. Below 35% health Blood Hunt (W)'s bonuses surge to 150%, which is exactly where Null Sphere (Q) leaves people.

Kassadin + Jarvan IV Strong

Cataclysm (R) walls an enemy carry in, away from her team: you blink in with Riftwalk (R) and nobody can peel for her. His page says that alone in there he is the one who dies, so you are the damage that makes the ultimate work.

Kassadin + Kindred Strong

The dive is a one-way trip and the mana for a second Riftwalk (R) often is not there: Lamb's Respite (R) is three seconds where nobody inside the circle can die, the time you need to reload. It protects them too, mind.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Kassadin

Kassadin + Ashe Best pairing

Your engage's stated flaw is that it can be seen coming: on a target hit by Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) there is nothing to see, they are already frozen. Frost Shot (P) slows with every single hit, so Riftwalk (R) always lands in contact.

Kassadin + Ezreal Strong

You peel for nobody, so you want a carry who saves himself: Arcane Shift (E) is his exit. He also casts nonstop, and Force Pulse (E) upgrades once 6 spells from anyone land near you, so with him it is charged every fight.

Kassadin + Jhin Strong

Deadly Flourish (W) roots anyone an ally has just damaged, and Null Sphere (Q) from range is enough to arm it. Curtain Call (R) then closes out from off-screen whoever walks away from your jump alive, which is the part you lack.

Kassadin + Draven Strong

Before level 5 you are one of the worst laners in the game: someone has to win the minutes you only survive. League of Draven (P) turns every takedown into bonus gold, so the lead comes from him exactly while you cannot make one.

Kassadin + Vayne Situational

Worth it against teams that buy magic resist early: your damage is 100% magic, the true damage of Silver Bolts (W) is not, so she melts the tanks while you take the backline. It does need a team that peels for her instead of you.

Best Support partners for Kassadin

Kassadin + Thresh Best pairing

Death Sentence (Q) hands you a stunned, dragged target: nobody dodges a telegraphed jump they cannot move away from. And when the mana for a second Riftwalk (R) is gone, the Dark Passage (W) lantern is your only way out.

Kassadin + Sona Best pairing

Force Pulse (E) upgrades once 6 spells from anyone land near you: Sona recasts Hymn of Valor (Q), Aria of Perseverance (W) and Song of Celerity (E) nonstop, so you fight with it charged every time. Crescendo (R) opens the window.

Kassadin + Morgana Strong

When the jump goes wrong it is crowd control that kills you, not damage: Black Shield (E) eats the first effect that lands on you. Dark Binding (Q) roots for 2 seconds, twice Null Sphere (Q)'s silence, so you arrive on a locked target.

Kassadin + Karma Strong

You land among them with Void Stone (P) only stopping magic damage: a Mantra (P) empowered Inspire (E) gives you a shield and speed at that exact instant. And she throws Inner Flame (Q) constantly, which charges Force Pulse (E).

Kassadin + Nami Strong

Aqua Prison (Q) and Tidal Wave (R) chain two pieces of crowd control: the target is pinned before you even jump, so you never spend Null Sphere (Q) to hold it. Ebb and Flow (W) keeps you standing in skirmishes you lose.

Kassadin + Milio Situational

Against teams that wait for you with a stun in hand: Breath of Life (R) cleanses roots and stuns on nearby allies and hands out heavy tenacity. He is C tier at 48.2%, so you take him for that button and Warm Hugs (E)'s two charges.

How to play Kassadin — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Kassadin is a mid-lane magic assassin in Wild Rift built around one of the biggest scaling swings of any champion: a genuinely rough laning phase before level 5 gives way to a menace who can blink onto priority targets, silence their response, and burst them down almost on repeat. Every point of his damage is magic, delivered through Null Sphere's silence and a Nether Blade-empowered auto-attack, while Riftwalk turns him from prey into predator the instant it unlocks.

Strengths

  • Explosive late-game scaling — once Riftwalk (R) is online and two or three items are finished, his all-in burst and stacked-blink mobility make him one of the hardest carries in Wild Rift to lock down.
  • Repeatable mobility other assassins don't get — Riftwalk isn't a single dash; each cast within its window can be chained again (at an escalating mana cost), letting him jump in, reposition mid-fight, and jump back out.
  • Free sustain in extended skirmishes — Void Stone's passive shield triggers every time he casts a spell near a visible enemy, giving him a steady stream of magic damage mitigation without spending a single coin on it.
  • A silence that swings fights — Null Sphere (Q) shuts down an enemy's ultimate or any other ability at the exact moment it matters most, letting him force an all-in on his own terms.

Weaknesses

  • A genuinely miserable laning phase — before level 5 he has no mobility, modest base damage, and a passive that only blocks magic damage, so he loses most matchups against anything with real physical burst.
  • A mana-hungry ultimate — every extra Riftwalk cast within its 12-second window costs 200% more mana than the last, so an ambitious double or triple jump can leave him completely stranded mid-fight.
  • No hard crowd control of his own — beyond Null Sphere's 1-second silence and Force Pulse's slow, he has nothing to stop a peeling carry or a committed bruiser once his combo is spent.
  • A telegraphed, all-in-or-nothing engage — his jump is easy to see coming, and once he commits, Void Stone's shield does nothing against the physical or true damage that punishes a bad Riftwalk.

Combos

  • Q → AA (W) → E → R — silence the target with Null Sphere first, cash in the Nether Blade-empowered auto-attack for extra range and damage, slow them with Force Pulse, then use Riftwalk to stay on top of them or peel off.
  • R → Q → AA (W) → E — the standard all-in opener: blink straight onto an isolated target with Riftwalk before they can react, silence immediately with Null Sphere to shut down any escape ability, then finish with the empowered auto-attack and Force Pulse.
  • 6 nearby spell casts → empowered E → R away — Force Pulse automatically upgrades itself once 6 total spells (from anyone) have landed near you in a fight, so watch for the empowered slow and damage window to punish a bad position, then blink out with Riftwalk if the trade isn't worth finishing.
  • R (stack) → R (stack) → R → Q → AA — the late-game execute: spend mana before the fight even starts to build Riftwalk's damage stacks, then commit a fully-stacked jump onto the backline followed by a silence and the empowered auto-attack for a near-instant kill.

Skill order: Q > E > W (max Riftwalk automatically at 5, 9, and 13)

Early game

Kassadin is one of the weakest laners in Wild Rift before level 5 — no mobility, a short-range silence, and a passive shield that only blocks magic damage leave him open to anything with real physical burst. Play for wave state and experience rather than trades: poke with Null Sphere (Q) from max range, use Nether Blade (W) on cooldown to help clear the wave and sustain mana, and avoid extended fights until Riftwalk (R) is up. Track the enemy jungler closely, since a gank is the single most common way to lose the lane outright before 5. The instant your ultimate unlocks, look for the first overextension to punish — that one spike is what turns the lane back in your favor.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From mid game onward, Kassadin plays less like a laner and more like a roaming blink assassin: sit at the edge of skirmishes and objective fights, watching for the enemy backline or support to drift out of position. When the window opens, blink in with Riftwalk (R), immediately silence the priority target with Null Sphere (Q) so they can't peel or retaliate, then unload the Nether Blade (W)-empowered auto-attack and Force Pulse (E) for the kill. Always keep enough mana — and ideally another Riftwalk stack — in reserve to reposition or escape afterward, since his kit has no hard CC or defensive cooldown once the combo is spent, and getting caught after committing is how most Kassadins die. Because chaining Riftwalks burns mana fast, plan a fight around your mana bar as much as your cooldowns.

Pro tips

  • Don't jump in on cooldown — bait out a flash, a key peel ability, or the enemy's own engage first, since a Riftwalk commitment is a one-way trip if the target escapes or your team can't follow up.
  • Build Rod of Ages into Seraph's Embrace early: the mana pool the two stack together doesn't just pay for Riftwalk's rising cost, it also directly scales up Void Stone's shield and Seraph's own bonus damage.
  • Use Null Sphere (Q) reactively, not only as poke — silencing a diving assassin, an enemy healer, or an about-to-cast ultimate is usually worth more than the damage number on the tooltip.
