Who counters Ziggs — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Ziggs on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

FizzZiggs vs Fizz Hard counter

Why Fizz counters Ziggs: The jump crosses your minefield and up close your bombs frighten you more than him.

How to play Ziggs into Fizz: Minefield BEHIND you, not in front. The Satchel is for DISENGAGE, never for damage. Splitpush with your range advantage on towers.

→ Fizz
KassadinZiggs vs Kassadin Unfavorable

Why Kassadin counters Ziggs: An anti-magic shield on your poke and jumps that ignore your mines: your siege works until he has 3 items.

How to play Ziggs into Kassadin: Demolish towers BEFORE his spike: you are the game's best demolition crew. Satchel always ready for his jump.

→ Kassadin
YasuoZiggs vs Yasuo Unfavorable

Why Yasuo counters Ziggs: The Wall eats bombs and R, and the dash train carries him from minion to your face in a second.

How to play Ziggs into Yasuo: Bombs on the minions he would use as springboards. Satchel his arrival. And siege from a different angle than his last Wall.

→ Yasuo
AhriZiggs vs Ahri Skill matchup

Why Ahri counters Ziggs: Her kit wants to close in, yours forbids it: the Charm is the only bridge she has — keep it down.

How to play Ziggs into Ahri: Q from outside Charm range, always. Satchel in reaction to her dash. Below 50% she can no longer enter: keep her there.

→ Ahri
TalonZiggs vs Talon Skill matchup

Why Talon counters Ziggs: His wall hops bypass your field, but every entry without a clean flank dies in the mines.

How to play Ziggs into Talon: Minefield on his jump landing spots: learn them. Ping the walls: vision is half this matchup.

→ Talon

Who to play with Ziggs — best team synergies

The champions Ziggs works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Ziggs

Ziggs + Malphite Best pairing

Unstoppable Force (R) knocks them all up in one spot: for two seconds there is nothing left to dodge, which is your one real flaw. Mega Inferno Bomb (R) lands on a frozen pile and Hexplosive Minefield (E) waits for them underneath.

Ziggs + Shen Strong

You have no dash and Satchel Charge (W) alone will not save you: Shadow Dash (E) taunts the diver from range and pulls him off you, while Stand United (R) shields you from across the map as you siege a tower alone with Short Fuse (P).

Ziggs + Volibear Strong

Stormbringer (R) disables nearby turrets for three seconds, and you are the champion who takes them down fastest: between Short Fuse (P) structure damage and Satchel Charge (W) demolishing anything under the threshold, the tower falls in one window.

Ziggs + Ornn Strong

Call of the Forge God (R) knocks the group up twice and leaves them where they stand: that is the window where Mega Inferno Bomb (R) cannot be dodged. Searing Charge (E) into terrain does the same job in miniature, every skirmish.

Ziggs + Singed Situational

Worth it when he actually plays with the team, which is rare: Mega Adhesive (W) and Fling (E) pin down the diver who reached you, and Fling (E) can throw him straight back into Hexplosive Minefield (E) if you laid it first.

Best Jungle partners for Ziggs

Ziggs + Amumu Best pairing

Cursed Touch (P) makes every point of magic damage they take carry true damage with it, and you are magic from the first bomb to the last mine. Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) holds them all for 1.5 seconds: Mega Inferno Bomb (R) stops needing aim.

Ziggs + Jarvan IV Best pairing

Cataclysm (R) walls in whoever is inside: they cannot leave Hexplosive Minefield (E) and cannot walk out of Mega Inferno Bomb (R). For a champion with not one guaranteed hit in his kit, it is the arena where everything lands.

Ziggs + Rammus Strong

Soaring Slam (R) lands in the middle of them and leaves a slow zone, so the pile stays inside your mines until they run out, while Frenzying Taunt (E) drags away the diver in your face, which is the only way you ever die.

Ziggs + Xin Zhao Strong

Crescent Guard (R) knocks back everyone except his marked target and blocks ranged damage: it is the peel your page says you give nobody, handed back to you the instant they jump on you.

Ziggs + Fiddlesticks Situational

Worth it when they do not rush magic resist, since you are two pure mages: Terrify (Q) freezes whoever just walked into your mines and Crowstorm (R) lands on a group already dancing inside Hexplosive Minefield (E).

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Ziggs

Ziggs + Ashe Best pairing

Frost Shot (P) slows on every single hit, and a slowed target no longer walks out of Bouncing Bomb (Q) or hops over your mines. Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) stuns for up to 3.5 seconds from off-screen: exactly the travel time Mega Inferno Bomb (R) needs.

Ziggs + Jhin Strong

Deadly Flourish (W) roots anyone an ally has just damaged, so a single Bouncing Bomb (Q) arms it for him, and that root hands you back the stationary target where Hexplosive Minefield (E) finally deals all the damage it should.

Ziggs + Varus Strong

Chain of Corruption (R) roots a group and chains outward to whoever stands close: the pile stays frozen for the whole flight time of Mega Inferno Bomb (R), and nobody walks out of your mines.

Ziggs + Miss Fortune Strong

Make It Rain (E) slows a whole area and Bullet Time (R) asks for exactly what you ask for, enemies grouped and still: when she starts her channel you have a pile in front of you that cannot dodge a single thing you throw.

Ziggs + Ezreal Situational

Worth it as a siege pair: between Short Fuse (P) structure damage and his long-range poke, towers fall without a fight. Neither of you locks anyone down though, so against a team that engages well you are just two targets.

Best Support partners for Ziggs

Ziggs + Thresh Best pairing

The Box (R) is a cage that slows by 99%: nothing gets dodged in there, and anyone who breaks a wall is still standing in your mines. Dark Passage (W) is the only escape you will ever get, since you own no dash at all.

Ziggs + Rell Best pairing

Magnet Storm (R) rips several enemies out of position and drags them into a single point: the pile your bombs demand, manufactured on command instead of waited for. Ferromancy: Crash Down (W) is the knock-up that opens the window.

Ziggs + Morgana Strong

Dark Binding (Q) roots for a full two seconds, more than enough for Bouncing Bomb (Q) and Mega Inferno Bomb (R) to land on someone who cannot move, and Black Shield (E) eats the crowd control that usually starts your death.

Ziggs + Braum Strong

Unbreakable (E) intercepts the projectiles aimed at you and cuts 35% off whatever gets through: it is the only thing that really stands between you and the dive. Glacial Fissure (R) knocks up a whole line and leaves it queued for your bombs.

Ziggs + Lulu Strong

Whimsy (W) polymorphs the assassin who just landed on you and Rampant Growth (R) hands you bonus health while knocking up everyone nearby: those are the two seconds you need to Satchel Charge (W) yourself back out to range.

How to play Ziggs — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Ziggs, the Hexplosives Expert, is a long-range burst mage in Wild Rift who wins fights by never letting anyone get close. Every point of damage he deals is magic damage delivered through skillshot bombs and mines lobbed from a screen away, and his passive grants bonus damage against towers on every ability, making him one of the best siege mages in the game. He asks for patience and spacing rather than flashy mechanics — land your bombs, keep your range, and out-damage the enemy team before they ever reach auto-attack distance.

Strengths

  • Elite tower-sieging power: Short Fuse adds bonus structure damage to every ability, and specifically enhances Bouncing Bomb for even more magic damage and structure damage, letting Ziggs solo objectives most mages can't touch.
  • The longest safe poke range of almost any Wild Rift mage, so he wins trades and chips health bars without ever stepping into auto-attack range.
  • An ultimate with exceptionally long range that snipes overextended targets, punishes bad positioning, or opens a fight well before the enemy can react.
  • Strong wave clear and zone control — Bouncing Bomb crashes through minion waves while Hexplosive Minefield locks down chokepoints, letting him freeze, shove, or roam on his own terms.

Weaknesses

  • Almost no mobility or escape tools — outside Satchel Charge's self-knockback, Ziggs has nothing to dodge a dash, jump, or flash once someone commits to closing the gap.
  • Every point of damage is a skillshot, so mobile or careful opponents can walk out of Bouncing Bomb or hop clean over Hexplosive Minefield, leaving him with only weak auto-attacks.
  • Wind-Wall-style projectile blocks shut him down completely, since Bouncing Bomb, Satchel Charge, and Mega Inferno Bomb are all projectiles that can be stopped cold.
  • Brings almost no peel or utility for allies — no shields, heals, or hard crowd control beyond a slow and a knockback, so teammates can't lean on him when a fight goes wrong.

Combos

  • Q → AA → W: Bounce a Bouncing Bomb onto your target, weave in an auto-attack while they react, then use Satchel Charge's knockback to either punish their approach or buy yourself room to retreat.
  • E → W: Pre-lay Hexplosive Minefield across a choke point or your own escape path, then knock a diving enemy straight back into it with Satchel Charge so they eat the damage and slow on the way in.
  • R → Q: Open a pick or a teamfight with Mega Inferno Bomb from well outside normal engage range — smart-cast automatically searches for and fires at an enemy target within range — then follow up with Bouncing Bomb on anyone still close enough.
  • W (execute): Detonate Satchel Charge on a turret that's below the demolish threshold (20% at rank 1, rising to 27.5% at max rank) to destroy it outright — a signature Ziggs trick for stealing a plate or closing out a siege. It works on turrets only, not on inhibitors or the nexus.

Skill order: Q > E > W

Early game

Play lane like an artillery duel: poke with Bouncing Bomb from max range, only auto-attack when it's safe, and back off before the enemy can close the distance. Ziggs clears waves fast, so use that to freeze against a stronger laner or shove hard and roam when you're ahead. Save Hexplosive Minefield rather than burning it on minions — drop it the moment a jungler or an all-in laner commits, since the slow and repeated damage punish dives hard. Ration your mana too; poking every wave adds up quickly, so save charges for real trades and kill windows instead of chip damage on minions.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From the mid game on, fight from the very back of the fight, chipping the enemy team with Bouncing Bomb and seeding Hexplosive Minefield across chokepoints and objective pits so nobody walks in for free. Mega Inferno Bomb is both your finisher and your zoning tool — smart-cast it so it automatically searches for and fires at an enemy champion within range, whether that means collapsing on a grouped team, executing a low-health target trying to flee, or sniping a threat well outside the normal fight. Positioning decides whether you live: stay out of dash and jump range, and treat Satchel Charge's self-knockback as an eject button the instant someone reaches you, resetting distance instead of trading blows. Since you bring almost no peel, your role in a fight is pure damage and space denial — trust your frontline to hold the line while you win it from range.

Pro tips

  • Against dive threats whose kit lives on one bridge into range — a charm, a flash, a wall-hop — staying just one step further back than instinct suggests is usually enough to win the matchup outright.
  • Check turret health before every reset: Satchel Charge instantly demolishes a turret below its threshold (20% at rank 1, up to 27.5% maxed), so a well-timed detonation can steal a plate or finish a siege. Inhibitors and the nexus are immune to it.
  • Casting any ability shaves 4 seconds off Mega Inferno Bomb's cooldown, so weave in extra Q and E during a siege purely to get your ultimate back faster, not just for the damage.
