The toughest lane matchups for Katarina on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.
Why Diana counters Katarina: Magic shield against your burst and an all-in that needs no resets: if you go in and fail to kill her, her answer is guaranteed.
How to play Katarina into Diana: Trade only with her shield spent and do not dance on daggers while her R is up. Roam: she shoves poorly and you rotate faster.
→ DianaWhy Kassadin counters Katarina: Anti-magic passive and shield: half your damage disappears, and after 9 he chases you through your own R with Riftwalk.
How to play Katarina into Kassadin: Destroy him before 5, then convert the lead into roams. NEVER attempt the duel after his 3 items.
→ KassadinWhy Galio counters Katarina: The AoE taunt interrupts your R and the magic shield soaks your poke: your favorite chaos becomes his stage.
How to play Katarina into Galio: Wait for him to spend the taunt before committing R. Farm daggers from the side and seek your fortune in other lanes.
→ GalioWhy Annie counters Katarina: An instant stun with burst equal to yours: jumping onto a dagger while her stun is charged is an invitation to your own funeral.
How to play Katarina into Annie: Count her stacks and stay out of range until she wastes them. Enter only reactively, after she has thrown the bear.
→ AnnieWhy Ahri counters Katarina: Charm punishes your telegraphed entries, but if you dodge it your reset pressure overwhelms her.
How to play Katarina into Ahri: Jump AFTER her Charm, never before. One kill starts the avalanche: look for the 2v2 with your jungler.
→ AhriThe champions Katarina works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.
Death Lotus (R) locks the 3 closest and Bouncing Blade (Q) hits up to 3: Unstoppable Force (R) piles them for you. Better still, their stun gets spent on him and not on your channel, which any single effect cancels.
Searing Charge (E) into the Volcanic Rupture (Q) pillar is a guaranteed knock-up every skirmish, not one per teamfight: the target is held still long enough for you to open Death Lotus (R) without risking the interrupt.
Death Lotus (R) dies to one stun: Shadow Dash (E) is a long-range taunt that pins whoever was about to interrupt you. And when the all-in fails you have nothing left, except the shield Stand United (R) sends from across the map.
All Out (R) rips a carry away from her team and roots her: alone, still, with nobody left to cancel your channel. If she dies there Voracity (P) cuts 15 seconds off everything and the next target is already in Shunpo (E) range.
Your game is a chain of resets and the chain needs a first kill: Stormbringer (R) disables turrets for 3 seconds, so a tower dive becomes something you can actually do. Thundering Smash (Q) is the hard stun he gets there with.
Fate Sealed (R) hits the whole line and knocks enemies together, which is the shape Death Lotus (R) wants. It only works with a real frontline behind you: two fragile divers going in with nobody tanking die together.
Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) is a 1.5-second stun on a whole group: the one moment Death Lotus (R) actually runs to the end. And Cursed Touch (P) carries true damage behind your magic hits, the answer to anti-magic shields.
Cataclysm (R) walls the target in: they cannot leave Death Lotus (R)'s radius and nobody who could interrupt you can reach them. If they die in there Voracity (P) hands your whole kit back and Shunpo (E) takes the next one.
Frenzying Taunt (E) forces the enemy carry to hit him and stand still: the target cannot leave and the crowd control she was saving for you never comes out. His page says the team's damage decides it, and that damage is you.
Infinite Duress (R) suppresses for one second: a target that cannot even try to interrupt your channel. And if it dies near you after you have touched it, Voracity (P) cuts 15 seconds off everything and the chain restarts.
Biggest Snowball Ever! (W) into Absolute Zero (R) keeps them piled up and slowed, which is how you want them. And the crowd control they were saving gets spent interrupting Nunu's channel instead of yours.
Lamb's Respite (R) is three seconds where nobody dies: it saves the failed all-in that normally kills you. It also protects the enemies inside the circle, though, delaying the kill Voracity (P) depends on.
Chain of Corruption (R) roots the first target and spreads to whoever stands near them: on a rooted group Bouncing Blade (Q) hits all three and Death Lotus (R) runs to the end with nobody able to interrupt you.
Deadly Flourish (W) roots anyone an ally has just damaged: Bouncing Blade (Q) bounces across three enemies and arms the root on all three. Curtain Call (R) then finishes from range whoever leaves your channel alive.
Shunpo (E) is short-ranged and your daggers are visible on the ground: against a target Frost Shot (P) slows with every hit, the jump lands anyway. Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) opens the window from off-screen before they see you.
Blade Whirl (W) destroys every enemy projectile around her for a moment: channel Death Lotus (R) inside that bubble and the ranged stun meant to cancel it never arrives. You both want the enemy piled up and point-blank.
Bullet Time (R) and Death Lotus (R) want the same thing, grouped and locked-down enemies, and both are stationary channels. It only works if a frontline engages for you: without one, the first stun switches you off in turn.
Your page says a single crowd control effect cancels Death Lotus (R): Black Shield (E) is the button that eats it before it lands. Dark Binding (Q) also roots for 2 seconds the target you then jump on with Shunpo (E).
You need seconds where nobody moves: Twisted Advance (W) roots one target and Nature's Grasp (R) opens a second window in the same fight. Two separate roots are two Death Lotus (R) channels that actually finish.
Magnet Storm (R) drags grouped enemies toward her: the ultimate that piles them up is the one that fills Death Lotus (R)'s three-closest radius. Before that, Ferromancy: Crash Down (W) knocks them up and shields her way in.
Crescendo (R) stuns the first target and slows everyone else: that is the window where you can channel without watching your back. Power Chord (P) then adds half a second of stun on whoever finishes you when the all-in fails.
Unbreakable (E) intercepts projectiles and blocks the first frontal hit: raised in front of you it eats the ranged stun that cancels Death Lotus (R). And Glacial Fissure (R) knocks up their whole line into the shape you want.
Death Sentence (Q) hands you a stunned target inside Shunpo (E)'s short range. And when the reset does not come you have nothing left: the Dark Passage (W) lantern is the only way back out of their team.

Katarina is a mid-lane Assassin in Wild Rift built around explosive magic burst and near-endless cooldown resets rather than sustained damage. She fights by scattering daggers around the battlefield and Shunpo-ing between them, chasing down squishy targets and refreshing her whole kit the instant a recently-damaged enemy dies nearby. She rewards sharp, calculated all-ins but punishes hesitation and misplays hard, since she has almost nothing to fall back on defensively.
Skill order: Q > E > W
Before level 5, play Katarina like a poke mage: use Bouncing Blade to clear waves and chip multiple targets at once, but only commit to trades when you can follow up with Shunpo onto a dropped dagger for the extra burst. Avoid overextending, since she has no hard escape beyond repositioning through E, and a single gank can end her lane early. Look for your first real all-in around level 5 once Death Lotus comes online - the goal is one clean kill to trigger Voracity and snowball the wave and lane from there.
From mid game onward, Katarina plays as a flanking assassin rather than a frontline fighter: hold out of vision, let the frontline clash first, then Shunpo through the side or jungle to delete the enemy's priority backline target. Once your burst lands, channel Death Lotus on the 3 closest enemies for sustained AoE damage and grievous wounds, but only after their hard crowd control has been used or baited elsewhere, since a single stun or taunt cancels the channel outright. Chase kills aggressively once you get one - Voracity's cooldown refund means the correct play is almost always to hunt the next-lowest-health target immediately rather than resetting to safety.
