Who counters Yuumi — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Yuumi on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

BlitzcrankYuumi vs Blitzcrank Unfavorable

Why Blitzcrank counters Yuumi: While you're attached you can't be hooked at all — the danger is your host: if the hook lands on them, you get dragged into the middle of their team with no way to stop it.

How to play Yuumi into Blitzcrank: Stay attached when the hook flies: detaching only turns you into a target. Keep your host behind the minions so the hook has something else to catch, and punish him with Q's slow after he misses.

→ Blitzcrank
LeonaYuumi vs Leona Unfavorable

Why Leona counters Yuumi: The train chains your host while you watch from the passenger seat: heals do not stop three stuns in a row.

How to play Yuumi into Leona: R in answer to her engage: the wave root stops it. Detach to poke ONLY while her E is on cooldown.

→ Leona
PykeYuumi vs Pyke Skill matchup

Why Pyke counters Yuumi: Your healed host stays above threshold — until his R decides otherwise: the tick cannot parry scythes.

How to play Yuumi into Pyke: Heal ahead of his dive and Q-slow his exit: a slowed Pyke inside your team never leaves.

→ Pyke
MilioYuumi vs Milio Skill matchup

Why Milio counters Yuumi: Heals against heals, but his cleanse cannot detach you from your host: a draw that favors whoever pokes better.

How to play Yuumi into Milio: Poison Qs on every cooldown from the host's back. And win at scale: your R in 5v5s roots what he cannot mass-cleanse.

→ Milio
ZyraYuumi vs Zyra Skill matchup

Why Zyra counters Yuumi: The garden punishes your host twice: poke in lane and root in fights. The tick cannot stomp seeds.

How to play Yuumi into Zyra: Q-slow through her plant windows. In fights stay attached and heal through the damage over time: patience beats brambles.

→ Zyra

Who to play with Yuumi — best team synergies

The champions Yuumi works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Yuumi

Yuumi + Volibear Best pairing

The Relentless Storm (P) stacks attack speed on every hit and Zoomies (E) adds to it, so he reaches five stacks far sooner. And his page says that with Stormbringer (R) down ranged champions kite him freely: the Zoomies speed and the Prowling Projectile (Q) slow stop that.

Yuumi + Dr. Mundo Strong

Your page says you get dragged into whatever disaster your host walks into: Goes Where He Pleases (P) shrugs off the first hard crowd control of any engage, which is exactly the hook that would have caught you both. A host who does not die is a host you never get knocked off.

Yuumi + Singed Strong

Singed lives deep in enemy territory, where a normal support simply dies: attached to him you are untargetable and go anyway. His page says kiters sit outside Poison Trail (Q) range: Zoomies (E) and the Prowling Projectile (Q) slow hand them to him inside Fling (E) range.

Yuumi + Irelia Strong

Defiant Dance (W) cuts 60% of incoming damage and cannot be interrupted: attached to her you ride out the burst that would have killed you. And Bladesurge (Q) resets on marked targets, so the attack speed from Zoomies (E) brings every reset around faster.

Yuumi + Yone Situational

Fate Sealed (R) teleports him behind the last target he hits and you go with him, untargetable, with the Zoomies (E) shield already on. But his page calls him painfully fragile: if he drops, you are left in the middle of everyone with You and Me! (W) on a five-second cooldown.

Best Jungle partners for Yuumi

Yuumi + Hecarim Best pairing

Warpath (P) turns movement speed into attack power: Zoomies (E) does not just move him, it raises his damage. And Onslaught of Shadows (R) throws him into the enemy backline, the one place you are the only support who can follow without being deleted first.

Yuumi + Warwick Best pairing

His page says mobile champions keep him permanently out of biting range: the Prowling Projectile (Q) slow drags them back to him, and the attack speed from Zoomies (E) stacks on top of Blood Hunt (W). He gives his allies no peel at all, but you do not need any.

Yuumi + Gwen Strong

Hallowed Mist (W) makes her untargetable to anything outside the ring, which is exactly the host your page asks for: one nobody can pick. All her damage then starts from stacking Snip Snip! (Q) with basic attacks, which Zoomies (E) brings around faster.

Yuumi + Master Yi Strong

Every point of attack speed on him becomes more Double Strike (P) procs and more Wuju Style (E) true damage: Zoomies (E) is worth more on Master Yi than on anyone else, and the shield is the only defence his page grants him. He is still at 47.8% on the CN server.

Yuumi + Rammus Situational

A host who simply never dies: Defensive Ball Curl (W) and his resistances keep you attached for the whole fight, and Frenzying Taunt (E) locks down whoever wanted to knock you off. But his page says he threatens almost nothing alone, and your healing is wasted on someone who deals no damage.

Best Mid partners for Yuumi

Yuumi + Nasus Best pairing

His page says that with no dash, mobile champions keep him at arm's length and his stacks never matter: Zoomies (E) gives him the speed and Prowling Projectile (Q) slows whoever runs. And attached to him you sit on the toughest body on the team, the one nobody knocks you off.

Yuumi + Kassadin Strong

Void Stone (P) only blocks magic damage, and his page says it is physical burst that punishes a bad Riftwalk (R): the Zoomies (E) shield covers exactly that. And every blink he takes you take with him, untargetable, without ever repositioning on your own.

Yuumi + Kayle Strong

Until level 8 she has no dash and no self-peel, and her page says divers punish her exactly there: the Zoomies (E) shield and the Feline Friendship (P) heal are that missing defence. Then Divine Ascent (P) stacks attack speed and Zoomies piles more on top. She sits at 49.2%, though.

Yuumi + Galio Strong

Shield of Durand (W) needs a full two seconds standing still and exposed to reach its maximum taunt: the Zoomies (E) shield and the healing waves of Final Chapter (R) are what carry it through. And he is a mage who can take hits, so you never get knocked off him mid-fight.

Yuumi + Ryze Situational

His page says that with no dash and no peel from allies, one clean engage simply kills him: peel is what you cannot give, but Zoomies (E) and your healing buy him the second he needs to land Rune Prison (W). Worth it only if the enemy team has no dedicated diver.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Yuumi

Yuumi + Kog'Maw Best pairing

His damage is standing still at maximum range with Bio-Arcane Barrage (W) up: the attack speed from Zoomies (E) multiplies those hits and the shield reaches him without you ever exposing yourself. And Prowling Projectile (Q) slows whoever walks at him.

Yuumi + Yunara Best pairing

She has no shield anywhere in her kit and her early game is standing still and hitting: Zoomies (E) is both the missing shield and attack speed on every one of those hits. And since Kanmei's Steps (E) is speed rather than a dash, your slow is what keeps her chasers off.

Yuumi + Vayne Strong

Silver Bolts (W) deals true damage every third hit, so the attack speed from Zoomies (E) shortens the gap between procs. And her page is blunt: she has nothing to heal, shield, or reduce damage with. You are all three, and you survive her dive with her.

Yuumi + Smolder Strong

His page says he needs uninterrupted reps to stack Dragon Practice (P): the Feline Friendship (P) heal soaks the harassment wave after wave. And Flap, Flap, Flap (E) crosses terrain carrying you along, somewhere no other support could follow him.

Yuumi + Twitch Strong

Deadly Venom (P) stacks on every basic attack and Contaminate (E) detonates the lot: the attack speed from Zoomies (E) shortens the time he needs to load it up. And he is painfully fragile with no shield and no dash, which is exactly what you hand him. He is at 48.5%, though.

How to play Yuumi — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Yuumi, the Magical Cat, is a low-risk enchanter support in Wild Rift who spends most of every fight attached to an ally instead of standing out in the open. Her damage is almost entirely magic damage delivered as a byproduct of keeping her host alive; her real job is healing, shielding, slowing, and revealing targets from a position the enemy team can't easily punish. She's built for a player who wants to swing every skirmish on the map without ever being the first one focused down.

Strengths

  • Untargetable while attached to an ally (turrets are the exception), letting her sit in the middle of a skirmish or a dive without ever being the one deleted first.
  • Final Chapter hits everything in its path with seven waves of damage and slow while healing or shielding every ally caught in the same area, making it one of the strongest tools in the game for swinging a group fight.
  • W lets her reattach to any ally she can reach, so she can bounce between lanes or jump straight to whichever teammate is in the most danger mid-fight.
  • Very low mechanical floor, but know the limits: the passive heal only fires when you hit an enemy champion with an auto or an ability, then goes on a 12-second cooldown (and it heals your ally too only if you attach within 4 seconds), while the attached Q slows on its own.

Weaknesses

  • Almost no personal damage or dueling power, since the kit is built around sustaining allies rather than dealing damage herself, so she can't punish an overextension or win a 1v1 alone.
  • Getting knocked off her host puts W on a 5-second cooldown before she can reattach; during that window she has no shield, no escape, and dies to almost anything.
  • She's only as safe as her host's positioning: hook and hard-engage picks that lock down her host (a Blitzcrank pull, a Leona chain) drag Yuumi straight into the same disaster she can't detach from in time.
  • Her only crowd control is a slow, not a stun or a root, so she has no way to hard-peel for a diving carry beyond kiting and hoping her teammates follow up.

Combos

  • W → Q: attach to your carry right as they open a trade, then steer Q into the enemy's path so the attached-state hit adds a slow and a brief reveal that locks the target down for the follow-up.
  • Q slow → ally engage: land the projectile's slow before your host or another ally commits, so the target can't just walk away from the fight you started.
  • E on host → commit: trigger Zoomies the instant your host dives in or gets dove on, so the shield, attack speed, and move speed land exactly when they're needed instead of a second too late.
  • Grouped R: save Final Chapter until several champions from both sides are clumped together, so every wave chips multiple enemies at once while topping off every ally standing in the healing zone.

Skill order: Q > E > W (take R whenever it unlocks)

Early game

Attach to whichever laner benefits most from constant sustain and let your passive's on-hit heal absorb their harass, since every auto-attack or spell that lands heals both of you. Poke with Q whenever the enemy steps up to trade or last-hit, as the attached-state version slows and briefly reveals on top of the damage. Don't try to control the wave yourself; let your host decide whether to push or freeze, and save your shield for the moment they get jumped rather than spending it on a routine trade.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

Once the mid game hits, attach to whichever ally is both central to the fight and hardest for the enemy to lock down, usually your frontline initiator or your main damage carry once the fight is clearly starting. Hold Final Chapter until several champions are grouped inside its path, since it's an area tool that loses most of its value channeled onto a single target. Keep steering your host toward safer positioning as you follow, and time your shield for incoming burst rather than after it lands, since a shield popped late absorbs nothing.

Pro tips

  • You're not married to one host: reattach with W onto a different ally mid-fight if yours is safe but a teammate is about to die.
  • Track who your Best Friend is. Your bonded ally grants you extra shield strength and stronger healing from your abilities, so prioritize attaching to them once that bond is established.
  • Never manually detach when your host is crowd-controlled; leaving doesn't save either of you, and the cooldown on reattaching afterward leaves you exposed in the open for several seconds.
