Who counters Twisted Fate — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Twisted Fate on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

FizzTwisted Fate vs Fizz Hard counter

Why Fizz counters Twisted Fate: Fragile, slow, and with a single defensive card against an all-in that dodges it with E: the lane is a countdown.

How to play Twisted Fate into Fizz: Yellow card in hand at ALL times after his 5, even at the cost of worse farming. Play at tower range and win the game with cross-map Rs.

→ Fizz
ZedTwisted Fate vs Zed Hard counter

Why Zed counters Twisted Fate: Select the yellow card one frame late and his R has already killed you: you are the favorite target of every Zed on the planet.

How to play Twisted Fate into Zed: Yellow card pre-selected whenever he leaves vision. Zhonya's early. And ult WHERE he is not: deal your damage elsewhere.

→ Zed
AhriTwisted Fate vs Ahri Unfavorable

Why Ahri counters Twisted Fate: More mobile, more burst, and her Charm beats your card in the CC duel: in straight trades you always start behind.

How to play Twisted Fate into Ahri: Shove with red cards and roam away: your R is half your champion. Never duel her at even waves.

→ Ahri
KatarinaTwisted Fate vs Katarina Unfavorable

Why Katarina counters Twisted Fate: Every card you commit to a minion is her window: she enters on resets and your only answer is already spent.

How to play Twisted Fate into Katarina: Yellow card reserved ONLY for her; farm with Q and attacks. Punish her daggers and move the duel where resets cannot follow.

→ Katarina
ViktorTwisted Fate vs Viktor Skill matchup

Why Viktor counters Twisted Fate: He wins the lane with the laser, you win the map with your Rs: two plans that ignore each other.

How to play Twisted Fate into Viktor: Do not contest his shove: match it with red cards and ult the lane he cannot help.

→ Viktor

Who to play with Twisted Fate — best team synergies

The champions Twisted Fate works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate + Shen Best pairing

Two global ultimates on the same map: Stand United (R) and Destiny (R) turn any side-lane skirmish into a five-on-three. And Shadow Dash (E) taunts the diver who, with no shield and no dash, would simply kill you.

Twisted Fate + Malphite Strong

Wild Cards (Q) throws three separate projectiles: on a pile knocked up by Unstoppable Force (R) all three land. It is also the window where you do not need the right card already cycled, which your page calls your real flaw.

Twisted Fate + Jax Strong

Destiny (R) is what lets him hold a side lane all game: the four-on-five becomes a five-on-five the instant a fight starts. And the Counter Strike (E) stun chains straight onto the Gold Card stun from Pick a Card (W).

Twisted Fate + K'Sante Strong

All Out (R) hurls the enemy carry out of their own team: they end up alone, and alone is where a Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) plus Wild Cards (Q) deletes them. Footwork (E) meanwhile dashes to you and shares his shield.

Twisted Fate + Camille Situational

For a split-push game plan: The Hextech Ultimatum (R) locks a carry into a 1v1 nobody can pull them out of, and the Destiny (R) reveal tells her when the map is safe to be alone. But her page says she peels for nobody.

Best Jungle partners for Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate + Nocturne Best pairing

Two global ultimates converging on one target: the Destiny (R) reveal picks whoever is isolated, Paranoia (R) blinds their team's vision and delivers him there. Neither of you has to walk across the map.

Twisted Fate + Warwick Strong

A Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) stuns for 1.25 seconds and Infinite Duress (R) adds a one-second suppress right after: nobody escapes that chain. The Blood Hunt (W) bonuses surge below 35% health, which is where Wild Cards (Q) leaves people.

Twisted Fate + Amumu Strong

Cursed Touch (P) makes every magic hit carry true damage, and your kit is magic from start to finish. Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) pins the group for 1.5 seconds: you land all three Wild Cards (Q) projectiles without needing the right card banked.

Twisted Fate + Nunu & Willump Strong

His page says Absolute Zero (R) is simply walked out of: a Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) is the lockdown he is missing, and Destiny (R) lets you arrive to provide it from anywhere on the map.

Twisted Fate + Rengar Situational

Take it against teams that spread out: the Destiny (R) reveal tells him who is walking alone, Thrill of the Hunt (R) makes the leap and you arrive with the teleport. Against a team that never splits it is worth nothing.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate + Miss Fortune Best pairing

Her page says Bullet Time (R) is a stationary three-second channel anyone with a dash dances around: a Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) stuns for 1.25 seconds and the Red Card slows the area. Destiny (R) turns a two-on-two into a three-on-two with no warning.

Twisted Fate + Jhin Strong

Deadly Flourish (W) roots anyone an ally has just hit, and a single Wild Cards (Q) card from range is enough to arm it. Curtain Call (R) then executes from off-screen the target a Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) is holding still.

Twisted Fate + Ashe Strong

Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) opens from off-screen and Destiny (R) puts you in the same fight from across the map: two ultimates that never need to be near each other. And on a target slowed by Frost Shot (P) the cards do not miss.

Twisted Fate + Samira Strong

Her page says she has to reach point-blank range and that crowd control shuts her down: a Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) hands her a free Wild Rush (E) entry. And bot side, Destiny (R) is the second body they never see coming.

Twisted Fate + Draven Situational

Worth it while you are ahead: Loaded Dice (P) and the Stacked Deck (E) active pay bonus gold on takedowns while League of Draven (P) banks Adoration, so every Destiny (R) roam pays twice. But his page says he does not recover from behind.

Best Support partners for Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate + Thresh Best pairing

Your page says that without the right card already cycled your burst is a fraction of what it should be: Death Sentence (Q) and Flay (E) hold the target for you. And the Dark Passage (W) lantern is the dash you lack, including right after the Destiny (R) channel.

Twisted Fate + Morgana Best pairing

Black Shield (E) absorbs the crowd control that kills a mage with no dash and no shield. And Dark Binding (Q) roots for two seconds, longer than a Gold Card: you can spend Pick a Card (W) on Blue for mana or Red for the area instead of on lockdown.

Twisted Fate + Sona Strong

Crescendo (R) stuns the first target it touches and slows everyone else caught in the wave: that is the window where you dump Wild Cards (Q) with whatever card you happen to have. And Song of Celerity (E) gives you the movement your kit never produces.

Twisted Fate + Karma Strong

The 1.5-second Destiny (R) channel leaves you exposed the moment you land: a Mantra (P) empowered Inspire (E) is shield plus speed exactly there. And Focused Resolve (W) roots up to two targets without her having to commit.

Twisted Fate + Lulu Situational

Take her against an assassin who hunts you every fight: Whimsy (W) polymorphs him the instant he lands on you. But her page says her range is short and she is fragile, and with Destiny (R) you are often on the other side of the map.

How to play Twisted Fate — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Twisted Fate is a ranged burst Mage who mains mid lane in Wild Rift, running a card-based kit built entirely around picking the right color at the right time. He pokes and clears waves with Wild Cards (Q), then turns a well-timed Pick a Card (W) into a stunning or damage-heavy empowered auto-attack, and once Destiny (R) comes online at level 5 he becomes the best scout on the map, revealing every enemy champion and teleporting to wherever he's needed. He hits hard from range but carries almost no defensive tools, so he plays more like a sniper and roamer than a frontline brawler.

Strengths

  • Wild Cards (Q) throws three separate projectiles per cast, giving him some of the strongest poke and wave clear of any mid-lane mage.
  • A well-timed Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) turns a single auto-attack into a 1.25-second stun, setting up a near-guaranteed Wild Cards follow-up.
  • Destiny's (R) global reveal plus teleport gives him map-wide presence - he can scout objective fights or show up in a side lane even when his own lane is stalemated.
  • Loaded Dice and Stacked Deck's (E) active both pay bonus gold on takedowns, so a Twisted Fate who gets ahead snowballs into core items fast.

Weaknesses

  • Extremely fragile once cooldowns are down - no shield, heal, or dash means a clean all-in usually just kills him outright.
  • Pick a Card (W) has to be cycled in advance; caught fighting before the right color comes up, his burst is a fraction of what it should be.
  • Destiny's (R) teleport telegraphs a 1.5-second channel before he arrives, so a poorly timed ultimate can commit him to a fight he can't win.
  • Outside the Gold Card stun he brings almost no peel or hard CC, so he struggles to protect a dueling or diving carry.

Combos

  • Gold Card auto-attack into Wild Cards (Q) - land the empowered auto for the stun first, then dump all three cards into the stunned target for a clean burst.
  • Wild Cards (Q) into Blue or Red Card auto, then remaining Q hits - open at max range with Wild Cards, follow with whichever card is banked (Blue for damage and mana back, Red for an AoE slow), then let any trailing cards finish the trade.
  • Destiny (R) reveal into roam into Destiny teleport into Gold Card auto into Wild Cards (Q) - scout a low-health target anywhere on the map with the first cast, teleport to them with the second, stun with the empowered auto, then burst them down before they can react.
  • Stacked Deck (E) active into auto-attack weaving into Wild Cards (Q) - pop the attack-speed buff for extended trades, timing autos toward the bonus-damage 4th hit while chipping in Wild Cards.

Skill order: Wild Cards (Q) > Pick a Card (W) > Stacked Deck (E), taking Destiny (R) at 5/9/13 - Q first for poke and wave clear, W second to shorten the shuffle cycle so the right card comes up more often.

Early game

Lean on Wild Cards' range to poke and clear the wave in the same motion instead of forcing all-ins before level 5 - Twisted Fate wins the long game, not the short trade. Keep Pick a Card shuffling in the background even when you're not about to fight, so a card is already banked the moment a real trading window opens. Respect how little damage he can take: anything with a dash or hard engage can close the gap and kill him before Wild Cards even comes off cooldown, so hold the poke advantage instead of forcing fights. Once level 5 hits, start weighing every wave against the value of using Destiny to check side lanes or objectives instead of just farming.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From the mid game on, Twisted Fate wants to fight from maximum range, chipping the frontline with Wild Cards while banking Gold Card for whichever squishy target steps out of position. Cast Destiny's reveal before a fight starts rather than during it, to scout the enemy jungler and flanks, and treat the teleport half as a repositioning tool for split-pushing or joining a side fight rather than a panic button - the 1.5-second channel leaves him exposed if it's read. In the fight itself, kite backward, keep weaving autos toward the Stacked Deck bonus hit, and spend the Gold Card stun on backline threats rather than trading damage with the frontline.

Pro tips

  • Keep Pick a Card cycling whenever it's off cooldown, even out of combat - an idle Twisted Fate without a card banked is giving up half his damage.
  • Use Destiny's reveal proactively before Baron or Dragon fights; the map-wide vision is usually worth more than the teleport itself.
  • Adapt the build to the game: Rod of Ages when you need lane sustain and mana, Rabadon's Deathcap when you're ahead and want to one-shot squishies, Lich Bane if you're weaving in extra autoattacks.
