Who counters Pantheon — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Pantheon on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

MalphitePantheon vs Malphite Unfavorable

Why Malphite counters Pantheon: Armor against your fully physical kit: your ruthless early game fizzles on a rock that waits for later.

How to play Pantheon into Malphite: Dominate before he buys armor, with W, attack and E, and close fast: every minute past the tenth plays for him. Spend your R on the other lanes.

→ Malphite
JaxPantheon vs Jax Unfavorable

Why Jax counters Pantheon: His Counter Strike parries your W and empowered attacks, and he scales exactly where you decline: your window closes on his ramp.

How to play Pantheon into Jax: Trade with the charged Q from range: Counter Strike does not stop it. Convert the early lead into objectives with R: never the late 1v1.

→ Jax
KaylePantheon vs Kayle Skill matchup

Why Kayle counters Pantheon: She is your designated prey before 5: afterwards, her wings remind everyone your late game is a retirement.

How to play Pantheon into Kayle: Stun-dive on repeat through the early levels. Every early death of hers counts double, and your R exports the lead to other lanes.

→ Kayle
FioraPantheon vs Fiora Skill matchup

Why Fiora counters Pantheon: Her Riposte waits for your point-and-click stun: if she absorbs it, the trade flips instantly.

How to play Pantheon into Fiora: One feint attack before the W, to trigger her Riposte. Your E blanks her frontal Vitals: use it inside her all-ins.

→ Fiora
DariusPantheon vs Darius Skill matchup

Why Darius counters Pantheon: A duel of early bullies: his stacks and pull against your stun burst. Whoever wins the first 3 trades keeps the lane.

How to play Pantheon into Darius: Stun and trade SHORT: never reach the fifth stack. Dodge his R by stepping back out of range. Win on timing, not on duration.

→ Darius

Who to play with Pantheon — best team synergies

The champions Pantheon works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Pantheon

Pantheon + Shen Best pairing

Your page is blunt: a dive that does not kill is the end of you. Stand United (R) drops a shield on you and teleports him to you from anywhere on the map, and Shadow Dash (E) taunts from range the target you were about to stun.

Pantheon + Ornn Strong

Bellows Breath (W) makes the target Brittle: your Shield Vault (W) stun lasts 30% longer and bonus max-health damage rides on top. And from level 7 Living Forge (P) lets you buy and upgrade items without ever walking back to base.

Pantheon + Darius Strong

Two executes on one body: Comet Spear (Q) crits under 35% health and Noxian Guillotine (R) finishes what is left. And Shield Vault (W) hands him, standing still, the mobile champions who always stay outside Apprehend (E) range.

Pantheon + K'Sante Strong

All Out (R) knocks a carry away from her team and roots her: the isolated target your combo deletes on its own, with nobody left to peel for her. And when the dive goes wrong, Footwork (E) reaches you and hands you the same shield he gets.

Pantheon + Malphite Strong

Grand Starfall (R) telegraphs where it lands and anyone on their feet simply steps aside: Unstoppable Force (R) pins them underneath it. His damage is magic, so one armour item no longer switches off half your team.

Pantheon + Volibear Situational

Worth it if you plan on early dives: Stormbringer (R) shuts the turret off for three seconds and the Thundering Smash (Q) stun holds the target, so you crash in with Grand Starfall (R) and walk back out. The longer the game runs, the less it gives.

Best Mid partners for Pantheon

Pantheon + Twisted Fate Best pairing

You are two players who can show up anywhere: Destiny (R) reveals the whole map and teleports him into the dive you open with Grand Starfall (R). And the Gold Card from Pick a Card (W) stuns for 1.25 seconds, the length of your combo.

Pantheon + Galio Best pairing

Your page says nothing brings you back from a bad dive: Hero's Entrance (R) lands right on top of you, with a shield on you and a knock-up on everyone who had closed in. It is the plan B your kit simply does not contain.

Pantheon + Nasus Strong

Your number one weakness is that a single armour item blunts your whole combo: Spirit Fire (E) shreds that armour. And Wither (W) strips the target's movement, so it stays inside Comet Spear (Q) range right up to the execute.

Pantheon + Annie Strong

With Pyromania (P) charged her next spell stuns for a full second: chained onto your Shield Vault (W) it becomes lockdown as long as your combo. And the magic damage from Summon: Tibbers (R) covers what enemy armour takes away from you.

Pantheon + Lissandra Strong

Ring of Frost (W) roots and Frozen Tomb (R) freezes the same target: close to three seconds in which a carry can neither parry nor dash away, which is the exact window where Comet Spear (Q) and Shield Vault (W) do all the work.

Pantheon + Zoe Situational

Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E) puts a target to sleep from range: you land Grand Starfall (R) on a sleeping body and open your combo before it reacts. The bubble travels slowly and gets dodged, though, so against alert teams almost nothing happens.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Pantheon

Pantheon + Ashe Best pairing

Frost Shot (P) slows with every single hit, so the target can no longer walk out of Comet Spear (Q) range; and Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) stuns it from off-screen, so Grand Starfall (R) lands on a frozen body instead of empty ground.

Pantheon + Jhin Strong

Deadly Flourish (W) roots anyone an ally has just hit: one long-range Comet Spear (Q) is enough and the target is pinned before you even leap. Curtain Call (R) then finishes whoever runs away under your execute threshold.

Pantheon + Draven Strong

You are both champions who either get ahead early or do not exist: Shield Vault (W) is a point-and-click stun nobody dodges, so a level-3 gank banks his League of Draven (P) Adoration stacks instead of wasting the trip.

Pantheon + Yunara Strong

Arc of Judgment (W) slows a target almost to a standstill: it dodges neither a charged Comet Spear (Q) nor the Grand Starfall (R) landing. And she has no dash at all, so an early visit bottom pays for her worst phase of the game.

Pantheon + Varus Situational

Worth it against teams that stand close together: Chain of Corruption (R) roots the first target and spreads to its neighbours, and you pick who to execute at your leisure. The Blighted Quiver (W) magic damage also answers the armour that hurts you.

Best Support partners for Pantheon

Pantheon + Thresh Best pairing

Death Sentence (Q) and Flay (E) hand you a target that cannot move, but the real gift is the lantern: Dark Passage (W) is the plan B your page says you do not have, for when the dive fails and you are left inside their team.

Pantheon + Zilean Best pairing

Time In A Bottle (P) hands free experience to the jungler: you hit your power spikes before the enemy does, which is exactly how you win games. Then Chronoshift (R) undoes the bad dive, the one your page says you never come back from.

Pantheon + Braum Strong

A Shield Vault (W) empowered by Mortal Will (P) gives you three guaranteed autos: that is three of the four Concussive Blows (P) marks in one go, so the stun lands by itself. And Unbreakable (E) stops the shot that would finish you.

Pantheon + Leona Strong

The Zenith Blade (E) root plus the one-second Shield of Daybreak (Q) stun, chained onto your Shield Vault (W), take a carry out of the fight for your whole combo. And the Sunlight (P) mark detonates into magic damage on the first hit you land on it.

Pantheon + Nami Strong

Aqua Prison (Q) knocks the target up and opens your window to walk in; Tidecaller's Blessing (E) loads bonus damage and a slow onto the next hits, which is exactly the three-attack flurry Shield Vault (W) gives you with Mortal Will (P) armed.

Pantheon + Morgana Situational

Worth it against crowd-control-heavy teams: Black Shield (E) eats the stun that would cut your dive in half, and Dark Binding (Q) roots from range the target you want to execute. Against a comp with no lockdown the shield just sits there unused.

How to play Pantheon — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Pantheon, the Unyielding Spear, is a physical-damage Fighter built for lane dominance and hard engages in Wild Rift: every basic attack and ability cast feeds his Mortal Will passive, empowering his next ability with bonus damage, a triple-strike auto-attack flurry, or a burst of speed. He trades hard early with Comet Spear pokes and a point-and-click stun, then leaps in with Grand Starfall to crash down for heavy damage and instantly arm his next empowered ability. Rated as one of the easiest high-damage fighters to pick up, he trades team utility and top-tier survivability for a kit that can burst a single target down almost on its own.

Strengths

  • Fully physical burst on demand — Comet Spear can be tapped for a hard-hitting point-blank thrust or held for a long-range throw, and it critically strikes anything under 35% health for a large damage spike, so the same button threatens an execute all game.
  • Mortal Will turns short trades into disproportionate damage — after 5 attacks or casts, his next Q, W or E comes out empowered with extra damage, a 3-hit auto-attack flurry, or bonus movement speed, rewarding players who track the counter.
  • Grand Starfall hits like a truck on its own — up to 300 magic damage plus a slowing telegraph on the way down — and casting it instantly arms Mortal Will, so he lands already empowered and ready to swing.
  • Low difficulty with a high damage ceiling makes him a straightforward, punishing pick for players who want to win off mechanics rather than juggle a complex kit.

Weaknesses

  • Every source of damage in his kit is physical, so a single armor item or an early tank pick with stacked resistances (Malphite-style) blunts his entire combo far harder than it would a mixed-damage fighter.
  • Bottom-tier utility rating — he brings no shield, no heal and no CC for teammates, so a fight he isn't personally winning is a fight his team is losing.
  • Shield Vault is a single-target, point-and-click stun, which means Riposte- and Counter Strike-style parries (or any hard CC immunity) remove his main engage tool and instantly flip the trade in the enemy's favor.
  • Only medium survivability with no sustain outside Aegis Assault's 1.5-second block window, so a dive or all-in that doesn't kill fast leaves him with nothing to fall back on.

Combos

  • Hold Q → W → AA: Snipe with a charged Comet Spear throw to open the trade from range, dash in with Shield Vault's stun the moment it lands, then free-hit while the enemy is locked down.
  • W → Tap Q → E: Lock the target with the point-and-click stun first, tap-cast Comet Spear at point-blank range for the full unreduced hit, then trigger Aegis Assault to keep stacking cone damage and grab the speed bonus if Mortal Will is armed.
  • R → Empowered follow-up: Grand Starfall arms Mortal Will the instant you cast it, so whichever ability lands first after you crash down comes out empowered for free — extra damage on Q, a guaranteed triple-strike on W, or bonus speed off E.
  • Mortal Will → W → AA: Time your 5th attack or cast onto Shield Vault rather than Q or E, so the guaranteed 3-hit empowered auto-attack lands on the enemy champion instead of getting wasted on a minion wave.

Skill order: Q > E > W (max R whenever available)

Early game

Pantheon's lane phase is about forcing trades exactly when Mortal Will is about to trigger. Hold-cast Comet Spear from max range to clear waves and poke safely, saving the tap-cast, point-blank version for all-ins where the full, unreduced hit matters — and remember tap-cast also refunds 60% of its cooldown, so a well-timed freeze lets you poke relentlessly without falling behind. Go all-in with Shield Vault the moment the enemy is both under Comet Spear's 35% execute threshold and Mortal Will is armed, but respect champions who can dodge or parry a point-and-click stun — bait it out with a false approach before you commit.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From mid game onward, Pantheon looks to open fights rather than sit in the frontline: Grand Starfall lets him leap in and crash down on the squishiest reachable target, dealing real damage on its own while instantly arming Mortal Will for the follow-up. Stun their priority target with Shield Vault the second you land and dump your fully-physical combo before their frontline can peel — with no utility or heal to lean on, you win fights by deleting a carry, not by out-tanking one. If there's no clean engage available, Grand Starfall still works as a fast way to close distance or reposition out of danger. Either way, track your own health closely, because nothing in this kit brings you back from a bad dive.

Pro tips

  • Deliberately practice both casts of Q — tap at melee range for the harder-hitting, cooldown-refunding version, hold at range for poke and wave-clear — and switch between them mid-fight instead of defaulting to one.
  • Keep a mental count toward Mortal Will (roughly every 5 attacks or casts) so you know in advance which ability is about to come out empowered, and delay or hasten your engage to land right on that cast.
  • Build toward the ability-haste-heavy items in his core path (Black Cleaver, Spear of Shojin) rather than pure damage — the faster your cooldowns come back, the more often you loop into an empowered cast, which is what actually wins extended trades.
