The toughest lane matchups for Kayn on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.
Why Warwick counters Kayn: He smells you out before you have even chosen a form and wins every early duel: the shadow needs to grow up in peace.
How to play Kayn into Warwick: Farm mirrored, away from him, and take orbs from ganks instead of duels. Blue Kayn against their carries, Red if your team needs a frontline.
→ WarwickWhy Lee Sin counters Kayn: He invades and out-duels you all early game: if he sets the tempo, your forms arrive too late.
How to play Kayn into Lee Sin: Track his first route and farm the opposite side. Counter-gank instead of seeking the brawl: 2v2 orbs are worth double.
→ Lee SinWhy Rammus counters Kayn: As Red you ignore him, as Blue his armor laughs at you: the form choice is half the matchup.
How to play Kayn into Rammus: If the enemy has 3+ physical champions, Rammus will be strong: take Blue and kill what he protects, entering through walls.
→ RammusWhy Kha'Zix counters Kayn: A jungle assassin duel: he wins on isolated targets early, you win the moment your form blooms.
How to play Kayn into Kha'Zix: Never alone in the river pre-form. As Blue the hunter is you: enter through the walls he does not ward.
→ Kha'ZixWhy Vi counters Kayn: Her R finds you ANYWHERE, even inside walls: the anti-assassin with guaranteed delivery.
How to play Kayn into Vi: Go in AFTER she has spent her R: always keep count. As Red you can even absorb it: better her R on you than on your carries.
→ ViThe champions Kayn works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.
Your page says you lean on teammates to lock a target down: All Out (R) hands you one ripped clean out of their team and rooted. As Shadow Assassin that is exactly the isolated body Umbral Trespass (R) wants to find.
The 2.5 seconds of Umbral Trespass (R) are the time their peel gets to react in: after Unstoppable Force (R) there is no peel, they're all airborne together. You come in from the side with Shadow Step (E) while they watch him.
Rune Prison (W) on a target already marked by Spell Flux (E) turns into a hard root nobody dodges: it's the lockdown you flatly don't own. And Realm Warp (R) brings the team to the flank you already opened with Shadow Step (E).
Your first minutes are the worst part of your game and you can't afford a lane that needs help: he proxy farms and asks for nothing, so you reach The Darkin Scythe (P) transformation without ganks you can't win yet.
The Hextech Ultimatum (R) seals a carry away from everyone protecting her, which is the best gift a Shadow Assassin can get. But it lasts a few seconds: if you aren't already on the flank when it goes off, the pick happens without you.
Destiny (R) reveals where all five of them actually are, so you pick the wall to cross with Shadow Step (E) knowing where nobody is looking; then he teleports next to you to cover the 2.5 seconds of Umbral Trespass (R).
Umbral Trespass (R) leaves you 2.5 seconds of waiting in which their peel can walk your target away: Frozen Tomb (R) is point-and-click and freezes it in place for that entire window. Ring of Frost (W) roots whoever comes to pull you off.
Charm (E) drags the target toward her and takes its control away: it's the lockdown your kit doesn't have, and it lands on a carry that had already drifted. Then Spirit Rush (R) brings her into the pick instead of leaving you alone in it.
Your problem is holding a target still: Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E) puts it to sleep, and the first hit that wakes it adds up to 40 bonus true damage, which will be yours. Reaping Slash (Q) drops on a body that never saw anything coming.
Command: Protect (E) can shield you the instant you re-emerge from Umbral Trespass (R), and Command: Shockwave (R) pulls the scattered back together. But you work from the far flank: half the time the ball simply isn't out there.
Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) stuns the carry you want from off-screen: the target is already frozen before you even decide to commit. And Frost Shot (P) slows the stragglers Blade's Reach (W) on its own can't quite catch.
Reaping Slash (Q) lands two hits in half a second, so Deadly Flourish (W) almost always comes out as a root: the target holds still while the 200 damage builds. Curtain Call (R) finishes whoever runs past what you can reach.
Chain of Corruption (R) roots the group and spreads between whoever stands close: for the 2.5 seconds you spend inside your target, none of their team can peel. It's the area lockdown your page says you have to borrow from allies.
He brings not one piece of crowd control, so he does nothing for you in a fight; but he's the bot laner who asks for the least help, and the minutes he buys you are exactly the ones you need to fill The Darkin Scythe (P).
Death Sentence (Q) and Flay (E) hold the target still for the whole Umbral Trespass (R) wait, and The Box (R) bars the road to anyone coming to pull it out. If the flank goes wrong, Dark Passage (W) is the way back.
Grand Entrance (W) chained into The Quickness (R) is nearly two full seconds of crowd control on the whole group: that's the entire window in which you're untargetable and your damage matures. And he arrives on the flank with you, not from the front.
Rocket Grab (Q) rips a body out of their formation and Power Fist (E) knocks it up: a Shadow Assassin asks for nothing but an isolated target, and here you get one without spending Umbral Trespass (R) to reach it.
Death From Below (R) executes and passes you the full gold for the kill, and Phantom Undertow (E) is the stun you don't own: two flankers hunting the same thing. But with no front line from top and mid the composition falls apart.

Kayn is a jungle assassin in Wild Rift built around a mid-game identity swap: he starts as a mobile skirmisher wielding the sentient darkin scythe Rhaast, then permanently transforms at his base into one of two very different champions once his passive bar fills. Depending on how he deals damage, he becomes either the hyper-mobile burst assassin Shadow Assassin or the tanky, self-healing duelist Rhaast, shifting his damage from a physical-plus-magic-burst profile toward a heavier, sustain-fueled physical one. Either way, his game plan revolves around isolating a single target - a jungle camp, a lone laner, or an enemy carry in a teamfight - rather than grinding through extended fights before the transformation completes.
Skill order: Q > W > E (level R at 5/9/13 whenever it's available)
Use Reaping Slash (Q) to speed up clears and stay healthy through the jungle before your transformation completes, and be deliberate about which champions you damage - hitting ranged targets builds toward Shadow Assassin, hitting melee targets builds toward Rhaast, so choose based on your team's comp and the matchups you're seeing rather than by accident. Avoid long duels or invades in this window, since pre-transformation Kayn loses most fair fights; instead look for ganks where Shadow Step (E) lets you cross a wall for a clean angle, and hold your bigger all-ins until the moment your passive bar fills, since that first transformation is a genuine power spike worth timing around.
In Wild Rift teamfights, Kayn plays the flank rather than the front line: use Shadow Step (E) to cut through terrain and find an angle where Umbral Trespass (R) can reach the enemy's most important target, usually their main damage carry. As Shadow Assassin, treat every fight like an assassination - dive in behind Q and R while your passive's 52% bonus magic damage window is up, delete the isolated target, and get back out; as Rhaast, itemize into Eclipse and Serylda's Grudge and commit to the front line directly, using your passive's damage-based healing and Blade's Reach's (W) knock-up to lock a target down while your team piles on. Always aim Umbral Trespass at a target your team can actually follow up on, since the 2.5-second delay before it detonates gives peel time to react if you pick the wrong body.
