Who counters Rammus — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Rammus on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

LilliaRammus vs Lillia Unfavorable

Why Lillia counters Rammus: Magic, fast, with percent damage: your legendary armor is reading a book from the wrong genre.

How to play Rammus into Lillia: Magic resist, and taunt when she twirls close: without kiting she is a fawn. Against full-AP teams you are worth half: say it at draft.

→ Lillia
FiddlesticksRammus vs Fiddlesticks Skill matchup

Why Fiddlesticks counters Rammus: His fear beats your taunt if it starts first, and his magic drain ignores your armor.

How to play Rammus into Fiddlesticks: Roll INTO him before he channels: the taunt interrupts the R. Every effigy found is an effigy destroyed: his vision is half his kit.

→ Fiddlesticks
WarwickRammus vs Warwick Skill matchup

Why Warwick counters Rammus: His damage is mixed and the sustain shrugs off your thorns in long duels: the dog gnawing on the ball.

How to play Rammus into Warwick: Taunt while his W is not active. In fights taunt the physical carry and leave the dog to your team: you are a counter-role, not a duelist.

→ Warwick
KindredRammus vs Kindred Skill matchup

Why Kindred counters Rammus: She kites outside your roll and her zone saves whoever your taunt condemns.

How to play Rammus into Kindred: Roll toward her marks: you already know where she is going. A taunt INSIDE her zone is not wasted: it is still seconds of your team's damage.

→ Kindred
HecarimRammus vs Hecarim Skill matchup

Why Hecarim counters Rammus: A physical horse inside your weight room: you counter him, but his speed picks when you meet.

How to play Rammus into Hecarim: Taunt his charge: it ends in your arms. In teamfights you are his nightmare: be found at the center.

→ Hecarim

Who to play with Rammus — best team synergies

The champions Rammus works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Rammus

Rammus + Yone Best pairing

Powerball (Q) cancelled into Soaring Slam (R) leaves the group knocked back and slowed in one spot: the only state in which Fate Sealed (R) catches more than one body. And Frenzying Taunt (E) locks whoever would punish his Soul Unbound (E) return.

Rammus + Aatrox Best pairing

His stated limit is getting kited: Frenzying Taunt (E) forces the carry to stand there hitting you while he lands all three swings of The Darkin Blade (Q). You open the fight and soak it; he brings the damage you flatly do not have.

Rammus + Ornn Strong

Bellows Breath (W) makes the target Brittle and stretches whatever crowd control follows by 30%: your taunt simply lasts longer, and the taunt is the only thing you bring. Living Forge (P) also upgrades your items without pausing your jungle.

Rammus + Garen Strong

Garen owns nothing that reaches a carry: Frenzying Taunt (E) holds one still long enough for him to walk over, silence it for 1.5 seconds with Decisive Strike (Q) and keep it inside Judgment (E). Under the threshold, Demacian Justice (R) closes.

Rammus + Darius Strong

His page says mobile champions simply stay outside Apprehend (E) range: you hand him one that cannot even turn around, and Noxian Guillotine (R) executes it. Powerball (Q) also brings the gank into his side lane from off-screen.

Rammus + Singed Situational

Frenzying Taunt (E) forces ranged champions, his stated limit, to stand inside Poison Trail (Q) and within Fling (E) range. He lives in a side lane, though: if the game gets played grouped up, the two of you barely share a fight.

Best Mid partners for Rammus

Rammus + Orianna Best pairing

She puts the Ball on you with Command: Protect (E) before Powerball (Q) starts rolling: you are the one who delivers it into their backline, where she could never walk. Then Command: Shockwave (R) drags everyone onto the target you taunted.

Rammus + Nasus Strong

Frenzying Taunt (E) holds the carry still and you cannot kill it alone: he can, with Wither (W) on top and an empowered Siphoning Strike (Q) for the whole taunt. And Spirit Fire (E) chews through the armour of whoever is beating on you.

Rammus + Yasuo Strong

His page calls any ally knock-up an invitation for Last Breath (R): Soaring Slam (R) offers him an area one on the whole group every time you cancel Powerball (Q) into them. And the taunt locks down whoever would punish him on landing.

Rammus + Kennen Strong

Slicing Maelstrom (R) forces him to stand in the middle of the pile, and outside that channel Kennen has no defence at all: Defensive Ball Curl (W) and Frenzying Taunt (E) send the hits your way, and the Soaring Slam (R) slow holds them under the pulses.

Rammus + Swain Strong

His page says Nevermove (E) is a skillshot with a round trip that mobile enemies simply walk out of: a taunted target walks nowhere. And Demonic Ascension (R) needs him standing in the middle of them, which is precisely where you are.

Rammus + Zed Situational

His page says that in a messy teamfight, with no isolated target, he is just another squishy blade: Frenzying Taunt (E) opens that window, and Death Mark (R) cannot be dodged by someone who cannot turn around. If he misses, you kill nobody.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Rammus

Rammus + Kog'Maw Best pairing

Kog'Maw has no dash of any kind: whoever jumps him ends the fight on the spot. Frenzying Taunt (E) peels that body off him and forces it to punch an armoured ball, and with Bio-Arcane Barrage (W) up he deletes it while it is stuck there.

Rammus + Yunara Strong

Transcend One's Self (R) hands her fifteen monstrous seconds, but only if she stays alive and standing still: Frenzying Taunt (E) rips the diver off her and Defensive Ball Curl (W) keeps him busy on you. She has no dash; you are the peel.

Rammus + Miss Fortune Strong

Her page says Bullet Time (R) is a stationary three-second channel that anyone with a dash simply dances around: the slowed zone from Soaring Slam (R) plus the taunt keep them inside the cone for all twelve waves.

Rammus + Smolder Strong

His page says ganks and dives on his lane delay the Dragon Practice (P) stacks his whole kit waits for: Frenzying Taunt (E) is the answer to whoever jumps him. And nobody leaves the centre of MMOOOMMMM! (R) once Soaring Slam (R) slowed them inside it.

Rammus + Samira Situational

Samira has to reach melee range and climb her rank before Inferno Trigger (R) even exists: inside the taunt and the slowed Soaring Slam (R) zone that spot becomes safe. Against a poke-heavy team, though, she never gets there at all.

Best Support partners for Rammus

Rammus + Sona Best pairing

Crescendo (R) is a second wave of AoE lockdown on the pile you just knocked back with Soaring Slam (R): the enemies never get to move again. And Song of Celerity (E) covers the Powerball (Q) wind-up, which is where your engage falls apart.

Rammus + Seraphine Strong

Beat Drop (E) escalates from a plain slow into a root or a stun when the target has already eaten crowd control: your taunt is enough. And Encore (R) extends every time it clips a champion, so it pays double on the pile you gathered.

Rammus + Karma Strong

Inspire (E) hands you a shield and speed at the worst moment, the Powerball (Q) wind-up where one slow switches your whole engage off; the empowered version leaves a ring the second ally diving with you picks up as well.

Rammus + Zyra Strong

You deal no damage; her plants do, and they keep hitting the target you taunted. Stranglethorns (R) only knocks up whoever is still inside the zone two seconds later, which is why it gets dodged: against your slowed pile nobody dodges it.

Rammus + Milio Situational

A root mid-Powerball (Q) turns your engage into a walk: Breath of Life (R) cleanses roots and stuns and puts you back on track. He is still a 48%-winrate support in China, so take him when the enemy comp is stacked with crowd control.

How to play Rammus — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Rammus is one of Wild Rift's most committed initiators - a Tank who curls into a spiked ball and rockets across the map before anyone sees him coming. Every point of his damage is magic despite his armor-stacked kit, which lets him punish squishy targets even through their own resistances, and his real strength is delivering a single game-changing pick: rolling in with Powerball, taunting the target that matters, and letting his team clean up. He's built for fights he starts, not fights he finishes.

Strengths

  • Best-in-class map mobility for a tank: Powerball lets him gank, invade, and rotate to objectives faster than almost any other jungler once it's fully charged.
  • Frenzying Taunt is a guaranteed pick tool - it locks down one priority target (usually the enemy carry) for long enough that your team's damage decides the fight.
  • Extremely tanky by mid-game: Defensive Ball Curl's armor and magic resist spike plus his naturally high base stats let him soak turret shots and skirmishes that would delete other champions.
  • Punishes auto-attack-reliant champions hard, since his W passive bonus damage and its reflect effect turn marksmen and on-hit fighters into free damage for him.

Weaknesses

  • Almost no damage of his own - Rammus rarely threatens a kill alone and is dead weight in a fight his team is already losing.
  • Percent-health and burst magic damage shred him despite his resistances, since his tankiness is mostly flat armor and magic resist rather than damage reduction.
  • Powerball has a wind-up: engaging before it ramps up, or getting rooted or slowed mid-charge, turns his signature gap-closer into a slow walk into a bad fight.
  • Sustain-heavy bruisers and hyper-mobile kiters can out-duel or simply outrun him, since Frenzying Taunt only locks one body in place and does nothing to stop damage or peel aimed at whoever he catches.

Combos

  • Powerball into Frenzying Taunt (E) into auto-attacks: charge in from range, taunt the priority target the instant you land so they can't peel or disengage, then auto-attack for the W passive's bonus magic damage while your team burns them down.
  • Powerball into Soaring Slam (R) mid-charge: cancel your roll into the leap so the landing and its knockback center on the enemy backline - this is Rammus's core teamfight-opening combo and hits far harder than either ability alone.
  • Defensive Ball Curl (W) into E into auto-attacks: curl up before diving in to soak the first burst, taunt once you're in range, then let the reflect damage and bonus on-hit magic damage punish anyone still hitting you.
  • E into R into W: taunt the target you want dead, drop Soaring Slam so anyone grouped near them eats the aftershock slow too, then curl into Defensive Ball Curl to tank the fight's return damage.

Skill order: Q > E > W (max R whenever it's available) - Powerball's lower cooldown fuels your jungle clear speed and gank frequency, Frenzying Taunt's cooldown and attack-speed steroid come online second for repeatable lockdown, and W's flat bonuses from leveling matter less than the two skills you actually use to make plays.

Early game

Path your jungle clears through Powerball to shave time off every camp and arrive at ganks already at full speed - a Powerball that's still ramping up when you reach the lane is a wasted gank. Look for your first gank around level 3-4 once Q, W, and E are all up, and taunt the champion you actually want to lock down rather than whoever's standing closest. Rammus wins almost no early 1v1s on raw damage, so avoid contesting scuttle crab or skirmishing solo - invade smart, track the enemy jungler's pathing, and turn any successful gank straight into dragon or tower pressure instead of hunting a second kill.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From the mid-game on, your job is to open every fight on your terms: pre-charge Powerball from fog of war or behind a wall, and cancel into Soaring Slam right as you reach the enemy backline so the landing zone and its stacking slow catch as many of them as possible. Taunt whoever threatens your own carries most, not necessarily the frontline - Frenzying Taunt's attack-speed bonus and the guaranteed damage window it creates are often what actually swings the fight. Once the fight is fully committed, curl into Defensive Ball Curl to soak stray damage and punish anyone still auto-attacking you, but don't chase kills yourself - Rammus wins fights by starting them well, not by closing them out.

Pro tips

  • Pre-charge Powerball before you actually need it - start rolling from brush or fog well before the gank so you're already near max speed the moment you're spotted.
  • Save Frenzying Taunt for the target that decides the fight rather than reflexively taunting the first thing you reach; it doubles as a strong dueling tool thanks to the attack-speed bonus.
  • Practice canceling Powerball into Soaring Slam - landing the ultimate off a full-speed roll onto a grouped enemy team is what separates a good Rammus engage from a wasted one.
