Who counters Vladimir — hardest matchups & how to play them

The toughest lane matchups for Vladimir on the Wild Rift China server, with why each is hard and exactly how to play it.

KassadinVladimir vs Kassadin Unfavorable

Why Kassadin counters Vladimir: He mirrors your scaling but with built-in anti-magic: your pool does not shake him and after 9 he jumps you on every cooldown.

How to play Vladimir into Kassadin: Win the early lane with Q attrition and convert it into team play. Pool for HIS jump, never for the poke.

→ Kassadin
FizzVladimir vs Fizz Unfavorable

Why Fizz counters Vladimir: His burst lands before your sustain matters, and the pool covers only one of his two entry tools.

How to play Vladimir into Fizz: Pool for the SHARK, not the E. Farm at range and cross the 2-item wall: from there the 1v1 flips.

→ Fizz
LissandraVladimir vs Lissandra Unfavorable

Why Lissandra counters Vladimir: Root on your pool's timing and a self-R that waits for your maximum: two free countermeasures in her base kit.

How to play Vladimir into Lissandra: Short trades with the empowered Q and out. In fights pool AFTER her root, not before.

→ Lissandra
AhriVladimir vs Ahri Skill matchup

Why Ahri counters Vladimir: The Charm punishes your Q greed, but your sustain voids her poke if you do not slip.

How to play Vladimir into Ahri: Pool reserved for the Charm. Every missed Charm is a free Q: keep the tally.

→ Ahri
ViktorVladimir vs Viktor Skill matchup

Why Viktor counters Vladimir: His laser punishes your close-range farming, your sustain absorbs his tax: a scaling race.

How to play Vladimir into Viktor: Take the minions with Q where the laser is inconvenient for him. In 5v5s your R underneath their team beats his storm: go in second.

→ Viktor

Who to play with Vladimir — best team synergies

The champions Vladimir works best alongside on the Wild Rift China server, lane by lane, with the reason each pairing works.

Best Baron partners for Vladimir

Vladimir + Malphite Best pairing

Hemoplague (R) heals you for every champion it infects and detonates harder on anyone damaged in the meantime: Unstoppable Force (R) puts them all inside the same square metre, the only way a fully charged Tides of Blood (E) ever hits more than one.

Vladimir + Ornn Strong

Your ultimate wants them bunched: recasting Call of the Forge God (R) knocks the entire enemy line into the air, and Bellows Breath (W) applies Brittle, stretching the crowd control that follows by 30%. You walk in with Sanguine Pool (W) and detonate.

Vladimir + Yone Strong

Fate Sealed (R) hits the whole line and knocks already-grouped enemies together: that is the window where Hemoplague (R) infects three or four instead of one, and where a fully charged Tides of Blood (E) cannot be walked out of.

Vladimir + Shen Strong

Your page says that with Sanguine Pool (W) on cooldown you are food for dive comps: Stand United (R) shields you from across the map in exactly that window, and Shadow Dash (E) taunts from range whoever just jumped on you.

Vladimir + Mordekaiser Strong

Death's Grasp (E) drags whoever it hits toward him and hands them to you already bunched for Hemoplague (R). And Realm of Death (R) removes for seven seconds the assassin who exists purely to punish you while Sanguine Pool (W) is down.

Best Jungle partners for Vladimir

Vladimir + Amumu Best pairing

Curse of the Sad Mummy (R) glues the entire team down for 1.5 seconds: Hemoplague (R) infects all of them and a fully charged Tides of Blood (E) hits all of them. Cursed Touch (P) adds true damage to every hit of yours, and on infected targets that damage comes back in the burst.

Vladimir + Nunu & Willump Strong

Biggest Snowball Ever! (W) knocks the group up and Absolute Zero (R) holds it there, slowed: the clumped team Hemoplague (R) is looking for. And you are one of the few who can stand inside that channel, since Sanguine Pool (W) makes you untargetable for two seconds.

Vladimir + Rammus Strong

Soaring Slam (R) lands on the group, knocks it up and leaves a slowing zone: that is your window to enter with Sanguine Pool (W) and charge Tides of Blood (E) at contact range, the only range where that E really pays. Frenzying Taunt (E) peels your diver.

Vladimir + Warwick Strong

Hemoplague (R) turns every point of damage they take while infected into bonus damage: the one-second suppress of Infinite Duress (R) is guaranteed damage on the right target. Below 35% health Blood Hunt (W)'s bonuses surge to 150%, where your detonation leaves people.

Vladimir + Jarvan IV Situational

Worth it when you are the one going in: Cataclysm (R) closes a ring around the enemy carry and Sanguine Pool (W) puts you inside it too, but that wall shuts your own team out as well. A pick for games where no help was coming anyway.

Best Duo (ADC) partners for Vladimir

Vladimir + Miss Fortune Best pairing

Every point of damage they take while infected by Hemoplague (R) comes back multiplied in the detonation: Bullet Time (R) is twelve waves in three seconds on the same pile. Both ultimates get cast at the same instant on the same patch of ground.

Vladimir + Varus Strong

Chain of Corruption (R) roots the first target and chains through whoever stands near them: the enemy team ends up held and bunched, which are the two conditions Hemoplague (R) needs to infect more than a couple of them.

Vladimir + Ashe Strong

To charge Tides of Blood (E) you have to walk almost on top of them: Frost Shot (P) slows with every hit, so they close the distance for you. Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) opens from off-screen and you follow straight in with Sanguine Pool (W).

Vladimir + Ezreal Strong

Your page is blunt: you peel for nobody, and a slow zone plus a delayed mark have never protected a carry. Arcane Shift (E) is the exit Ezreal builds for himself, which is why he stays standing next to you where other carries die.

Vladimir + Xayah Situational

Worth it in games where the real problem is that nobody peels for anybody: Featherstorm (R) makes her untargetable on her own, so she never needs the peel you cannot give. Bladecaller (E) roots for 1.25 seconds, just long enough to infect the group.

Best Support partners for Vladimir

Vladimir + Thresh Best pairing

With Sanguine Pool (W) on cooldown you have no exits left, and your page says that is where you die: the Dark Passage (W) lantern is a second one. Up front, Death Sentence (Q) and Flay (E) hold the target still while you charge Tides of Blood (E).

Vladimir + Rakan Strong

Grand Entrance (W) into The Quickness (R) chains nearly two seconds of crowd control on the same targets: the frozen pile where Hemoplague (R) pays the most. And Battle Dance (E) covers you with a shield, which beats any heal against burst.

Vladimir + Braum Strong

You do not need someone to heal you: Transfusion (Q) and Sanguine Pool (W) already do it themselves, and in an anti-heal game an ally's healing gets cut exactly like yours. You need someone who absorbs: Unbreakable (E) intercepts projectiles and blocks the first frontal hit.

Vladimir + Morgana Strong

Your weak point is not the health you spend but the crowd control that catches you while Sanguine Pool (W) recharges: Black Shield (E) eats it. And Soul Shackles (R) stuns everyone who stays close, handing Hemoplague (R) the pile it wants.

Vladimir + Lulu Strong

Rampant Growth (R) hands you bonus maximum health, and Crimson Pact (P) converts bonus health into ability power: on you that ultimate is defence and damage in the same button. Whimsy (W) meanwhile polymorphs whoever just jumped on you for a second.

Vladimir + Nami Situational

Take her for Aqua Prison (Q) and Tidal Wave (R), not for Ebb and Flow (W): you already have the sustain, and against anti-heal those heals vanish along with yours. Worth it in games where your bot lane needs her more than you do.

How to play Vladimir — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips

Vladimir, the Crimson Reaper, is a scaling Mage in Wild Rift's CN server (国服) meta who trades his own health for magic damage and sustain, thanks to a passive that converts bonus health into ability power. He wins fights by poking with Transfusion, ducking into Sanguine Pool to shrug off burst, and finishing grouped enemies with the delayed area burst of Hemoplague. He hits hard and holds up well in extended trades, but brings little peel or crowd control for his team.

Strengths

  • Self-sustain in lane is elite: Transfusion's heal and Sanguine Pool's damage-based healing let him win extended trades that would exhaust most other mages.
  • Sanguine Pool is a genuine escape-and-punish tool against all-ins, dives, and hard-CC ultimates, granting 2 seconds of untargetability with built-in zone damage and healing.
  • Crimson Pact converts bonus health into ability power, so tanky itemization still translates into damage, giving him flexible, forgiving builds that keep scaling into the late game.
  • Hemoplague is a fight-defining ultimate: it marks a whole grouped team, heals him off every infected champion, and finishes with a true-up detonation that punishes whatever damage they already took.

Weaknesses

  • No hard escape or gap-closer beyond Sanguine Pool's short, cooldown-gated dive, so once it is down he is an easy target for dive comps.
  • Sanguine Pool and Tides of Blood both tax his own health bar, so burst-heavy match-ups can punish him before Crimson Rush and his sustain come online.
  • Very low team utility: a slow zone and a delayed group mark are his only forms of peel, leaving squishier carries largely undefended.
  • Grievous Wounds cuts straight into his identity, since Transfusion, Sanguine Pool, and Hemoplague all double as healing, so anti-heal match-ups feel worse than the raw damage numbers suggest.

Combos

  • Q into Q into empowered Q (Crimson Rush): landing two Transfusions fills your Bloodthirst stacks and unlocks a move-speed burst plus a 75-percent-harder empowered Q — this is your core lane trade once the stacks are up.
  • W into E into Q: dive in through Sanguine Pool to close the gap safely, channel Tides of Blood to slow anyone trying to disengage, then finish with Transfusion for the sustain.
  • R into E into Q: open a teamfight by infecting the grouped enemy team with Hemoplague, then dump a full-charge Tides of Blood and a Transfusion into them before the plague detonates, since every extra point of damage they take while infected becomes bonus true-up damage on the burst.
  • W to bail: drop into Sanguine Pool the instant burst turns onto you, since 2 seconds of untargetability plus damage-based healing can undo an entire enemy combo.

Skill order: Q > E > W (max R at every chance)

Early game

Lane off Transfusion pokes and save Tides of Blood and Sanguine Pool for moments that matter, since both burn your own health and add up fast if spammed on the wave. Look for your first real trade once Bloodthirst hits two stacks: the Crimson Rush window turns your next Q into a heavier, heal-hungry poke, so hold a stand-still trade for right when it procs. Respect all-in lanes like Kassadin and Fizz before level 5, since their burst can outrace your sustain — play from max Transfusion range and save Sanguine Pool for their engage rather than for farming. Once your ultimate is up, look for kill windows on overextended targets, since Hemoplague's delayed detonation plus its heal can win a lane on its own.

Mid & late game — teamfighting

From the mid game onward, your job is to walk Hemoplague onto as many grouped enemies as possible: every champion it infects adds to your heal, and every point of damage they take before it detonates becomes bonus true-up damage. Follow the ultimate in with a fully charged Tides of Blood on the same targets, since Vladimir has to close to near his enemies for that hit to land rather than poking from max range. Use Sanguine Pool to enter the fray safely or to vanish the instant burst turns onto you, timing it to eat a key ability rather than reacting late. Because Crimson Pact converts bonus health into power, build a mix of ability power and health so you can stay in the fight longer while still being the priority damage threat, not just a one-shot glass cannon.

Pro tips

  • Track your own Bloodthirst stacks, not just cooldowns: Crimson Rush is wasted if it procs on minions instead of being saved for a champion trade.
  • Sanguine Pool costs 20 percent of your current health, so do not dip into it just to farm or poke; hold it for engages, hard crowd control, or burst you cannot otherwise survive.
  • Riftmaker's omnivamp and bonus health pair directly with Crimson Pact, letting your Q and E poke double as sustain — build into it early, then scale toward Rabadon's Deathcap once you are ahead.
